My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 37

Chapter 37

Chloe’s POV

I blinked open slowly and was greeted by a splitting headache, tearing through my skull.

My eyes fell shut and I let out another groan as exhaustion and pain wreaked havoc through my body.

“Don’t move, there is a needle in your hand.”

Hearing the voice, I peeled my eyes open. It took a moment for Tony’s blurry image to focus enough for me to see him properly.

“Tony,” I muttered, my voice barely higher than a whisper. “What’s going on? Why am I in a hospital?”

He set aside his paperwork and came to sit at my bedside so he could hand me water. “You passed out. Axel brought you in here to recover. The doctor said your body was malnourished and had been under a lot of stress.”

Axel brought me here? But I was certain that I was in the library before this. Did he go to the library to

see me?

My eyes scanned the room and saw no Axel or any sign that he had been here.

“Where is he?” I said, trying to sit up. The least I could do was say thank you.

Tony looked towards the door and frowned. “He said that he had to handle something. He has not come

back since then.”

Since when? The way Tony sounded, it was like Axel had been gone for hours.

Just then, the door opened and the doctor entered the room. Behind him was Celestia carrying a basket that did not look as heavy as her facial expression.

“Luna, you are awake,” the doctor said with a warm smile as she checked my vitals.

My eyes remained on Celestia who stood beside the door. What was she doing here? What was inside

the basket?

Had she given up on her pretense and decided to outrightly kill me?

The three of us stayed silent until the doctor left. The moment the door closed, Celestia crossed over and remained by my bedside.

“Chloe, I heard you passed out. I was so terrified that it was something serious. What happened?”

She held my hand, searching my face for something. Her trying to act decent without any secret jabs in her words was somehow the most terrifying thing that I had seen her do.

“I am fine. Just…overworked,” I said, not knowing a better word to use without repeating the doctor’s diagnosis out loud.

She pouted slightly as she opened the lid of the basket. “Your mother actually heard of the matter and wanted me to deliver this to you. She made you a soup.”

“Mum sent you,” I said, my voice blank.

I was not sure if to believe her. This might be her trying to turn me against my mother but at the same time, I had not seen Mum since the Alpha banquet and we had barely talked back then.

She had not even bothered to drop by the pack house once to say hi. If I was in the hospital, how could I

be sure that she would come?

At least, she sent soup.

I picked up the spoon and scooped it, sniffing subtly. Nothing seemed amiss. I had been about to take a sip when my throat closed up.

The spoon clattered to the floor and I turned to the side and threw up into the waste bin, dry heaving as the food emptied from my stomach.
