Chapter 41
Chloe’s POV
The door of my hospital ward opened. I looked up above my reading glasses.
Seeing it was Luna Diane, I set the books aside and tried to climb out of bed to greet her.
“Stay,” she said, moving to pull a chair so she could sit beside me. “Did the doctor not tell you to take a break? What are you doing?”
I smiled nervously, tucking my hair behind my ear. “Um….I feel a lot better now. I start to feel a bit uncomfortable when I just lay in bed doing nothing.”
After a few more rounds of the antidote, the poison inside me had cleared up but the doctors had insisted on keeping me here for observation. I had a feeling that it had less to do with the fact that I was poisoned and more with the wolf in my underage body.
I did not mind being treated like a test subject. As long as no one tried to chain me here after the week was over, everything was going to be fine.
Luna Diane nodded. “I understand that but you ought to still rest. You will be returning to work soon and things will be a lot more difficult.”
I did not think Alpha Paul was going to let me rest after this. I would not be surprised at all if the first place I went to once I left the hospital was his office.
“Information reaches me that you understand border schedules,” Luna Diane said, emptying the bag she
came in with.
It looked like the file that my regular lesson material was contained in but the content seemed to be vastly different. Security measures did not seem like something Luna Diane was equipped to teach me.
“Do not give me that look,” she said without looking up.
My hand lifted to my face to check if I had let any emotions slip. “What face?”
Luna Diane raised her brow at me. “I will not be teaching. I only came to inform you about Paul’s directive.”
She handed me a bunch of papers, pointing to the diagram. “This is the map of a conquered territory we have had for a few years. He is giving this as a task to you and Hannah. Organize a proper patrol and security schedule, taking into consideration…well, you figure that out.”
I scanned the documents.
Jax had not been particularly competent in my past life as an Alpha but he had very good subordinates, one of which included a very good Head of Security.
I had listened in on their meetings and picked up a few things from them and my personal study but not

to the extent of actually designing the patrol schedule for a whole pack’s territory from scratch.
“Are we allowed to ask for help?” I asked her.
The last time we had not clarified that and Hannah had cheated the system. I would love to know ahead of time if I had access to the same shortcuts or resources.
Luna Diane looked at me like I was being ridiculous. “No. It is implied that this be handled yourselves.”
“Did you tell Hannah that?” I insisted. “That we are not allowed to ask for help?”
Her mouth opened, probably to scold me for being childish but whatever she saw on my face made her
