Chloe’s POV

I was dressing up to go back to the packhouse when there was a knock on the door.

“Hold on a minute. Let me finish dressing…oh. You.”

Hannah entered the room and shut the door behind her. She scanned me from top to bottom, her lips

pulling down in a frown. “You look fine. I thought they said you were poisoned.”

“You sound disappointed. Were you hoping for something else to happen?”

Her jaw clenched and she crossed her arms over her chest. “Alpha called Dad to his office. What did you

do?”

If he had called both parents, then I would have thought that it was because of my premature shifting.

I sat back on the bed to put on my shoes. “How are you sure that it is because of something I did? Who knows? He might have found out about one of your boy toys.”

Hannah flinched and took a step back. It was only when she saw the mocking smile playing on my lips. that she realized I was taunting her. She let out an annoyed growl, stomping towards me.

“Chloe, do not make me lose my patience with you. I will hurt you,” she said, her voice gruffer because of the presence of her wolf.

Now, that Alpha, Luna, Axel, Tony and even Celestia knew, what was the point of hiding it from Hannah?

“Take your hands off me,” I said, slowly letting the green eyes of my wolf bleed into mine. Hannah gasped and stumbled backwards, her knees buckling but she caught herself on the table. “Good.”

“H-How? How did you-”

I jumped down from the bed, walking to the table to grab the rest of my stuff. “What was what?”

As I spoke, she saw my canines elongated, poking out from between my lips.

Just then, the door opened and Tony’s scent filled the room. I returned my facial features to normal and turned around with a bright smile. “There you are. I was wondering how I would carry all of these back myself.”

Tony frowned in confusion by how cordially I was greeting him as I dropped my stack of books in his arms. Grabbing the rest of my things, I looked back at Hannah one last time.

“Are you coming out or do you have a thing for hospital rooms?”

She flinched and darted ahead of me like fire was licking her heels. “Shall we?”

We had just walked out of the hospital when something occurred to me. “Where is Axel?”

My mind was already running a mile a minute, trying to piece the rest together. It did not help that I had a lifetime experience of dealing with excuses from men who were trying to hide things from me.

“Is he with Celestia?” I asked, expecting the answer and was still disappointed by it anyway.
