Chloe’s POV

The moment Alpha’s office closed behind Jax, Mara rushed to me, checking my neck for marks or injuries.

“Do you want me to take you back to the hospital?” she asked worriedly, lifting me back to my feet.

I smiled at her, the pain already fading away. “Don’t worry about it. I am fine. We should go pack our things.”

Luna Diane was in the dining room when Mara and I came down in a small suitcase in each of our hands. She looked us up and down and nodded once.

“Have you called Axel?”

Her question stunned me. Since when did I need to call Axel to tell him where I was going? He left for a whole banquet with another woman and did not think to inform me about his whereabouts.

Why would he deserve that same courtesy?

“I do not have his phone number,” I said. It was not an answer to the question but it was closely related that it might as well answer it.

Luna Diane turned to me with a raised brow. She opened her mouth to say something and then decided against it, shaking her head like it was none of her business.

Mara and I headed out of the house and Viktor stood outside in front of the car. I should have probably asked earlier if he was coming with us before planning this trip in my head like it was a luxury vacation

with Mara accompanying me.

“I will stay out of your way,” Viktor said like he could read my mind.

“Good.”

He better keep to that. Even if Axel was watching me through him, I would rather not be actively aware of

that surveillance.

I would also have to find a way to lose him when I snuck out of the house to handle my other affairs.

The car ride to the airport was silent. Mara had some work to finish up and Viktor was well… Viktor.

I was content with scrolling through my phone since I did not have anything better to do. A text came in from Killian and Asher.

I opened the message and my heart skipped a beat in my chest. They had done it.

The drug was not yet fully complete but they had been able to create a prototype that worked on her animal siblings, the wild wolves.

Mara noticed the wide smile on my face and tried to take a peek at my phone screen. “What is it? What is making you so happy?”

I pocketed the phone before I would have to explain it to her. If I told her something so important, there was no way it would not get to Luna Diane.

“I will tell you later,” I said to her.

Later, by which I meant when Alpha Paul and the rest of the Alpha family found out.

Mara’s eyes widened when we got to the plane. Luna Silvia had gone as far as sending a private jet to

pick us up.

Suddenly, something mischievous flashed in her eyes and she dug her hand into her handbag, searching for her phone. “Pictures first. We need to infuriate Hannah.”
