Chapter 46
Chloe’s POV
“We have a guest,” Luna Silvia snapped. “This is not the time for your tantrums.”
Sandra stomped her feet on the ground before marching into the house, slamming the door so hard that it was a surprise that it did not fly off its hinges.
Luna Silvia turned away from her daughter, pure fury bristling on the surface as she forced herself to
breathe.
This was the perfect time to insert myself into the conversation, to volunteer to get close to Sandra but I could not bring myself to open my mouth.
Luna Silvia liked me but I did not want to push my luck by overstepping my bounds and directly interfering with her family.
“Why not have Chloe talk to her?” Darius suggested out of the blue. “They are close in age so perhaps, Chloe would understand something that we do not.”
…That was convenient.
Luna Silvia looked torn for a moment, clearly not wanting to be a burden. Her mate seemed more on board with the idea, glancing at me to say something to her.
I just stood up and set down my fork. “It is the least I can do. Besides, I have heard great things about Sandra. It would be nice to get to know her.”
Luna Silvia nodded and I headed inside the house, moving slowly as I took in the decor. A second life later and the paintings did not get old.
Knowing that most of them were done by their own ancestors made everything even more meaningful. The rich history of their pack was something I could get lost in for hours.
I followed Sandra’s scent to a balcony that looked isolated from the rest of the house. When I walked in, she flinched. “How did you know about here? Did they-”
I shook my head, tapping my nose. “Your perfume is very strong,” I said, not wanting to reveal anything remotely close to telling her that I had shifted already.
An annoyed look crossed behind her eyes and she turned away, facing the outside view of the balcony.” They sent you here to talk me out of my nonsense, right? Flying a seventeen-year-old girl two hours from her home to stage an intervention for the problem child-”
“You overestimate yourself,” I said bluntly and she fell silent, her lips parting in shock. I looked her right in the eyes as I repeated my words. “If you think that I flew across entire cities to be here because of you, you overestimate yourself.”
Now, she was sulking but at least, she was no longer upset about her parents.

“Tell me about this human,” I said, sitting beside her on the swinging chair.

She told me to get up but I pretended not to hear her, so she started to narrate her perspective of the human man she had fallen in love with.
Six feet. Blonde hair. Brown eyes. Geography major at the local university in the human city near here. The warmest smile you could ever see on a man.
She spoke about him with so much adoration that if I had not known that he was a wolf hunter, I might
have fallen in love with him too.
“And you believe that he is worth going against your parents’ will for the kind of match they want you to have? He is worth not waiting for your fated mate?”
