My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 47

Chapter 47

Chloe’s POV

Sandra barged into the guest bedroom in the morning and faltered when she saw me sitting on the bed, trying to put on my shoes.

“What are you doing up so early?” she asked.

Was she not planning to come in here and wake me up?

“Can’t sleep,” I said and stood. “What’s up?”

“I wanted to ask you if you wanted breakfast upstairs.” She sounded disappointed for some reason.

“Where do you want to have breakfast?”

A shadow filled the doorway behind her. “Mum was trying to force her to have breakfast with you so she was hoping you would still be asleep so she could give Mum that excuse and run off to some diner with

that human brat.”

Sandra’s blush could have spread to her toes from how deep it was. “I was not…you are making Chloe sound like a burden… that was not what I meant!”

“I do not mind breakfast at a diner. It has been a long time since I went to a restaurant for purely food purposes.”

That said, I did not go to restaurants ever.

Sandra’s brows scrunched. “What other purposes would you go to a restaurant besides food?”

I was about to speak and then, I shook my head. “Don’t worry about it. Can I come?”

Sandra thought about it, shot her brother a furtive glance and then nodded. “Now, no one can say that Reese and I are on a date.”

She stomped away first, leaving Darius and I alone. He stared at my face for far too long without speaking. “Did you sleep well, Chloe?”

“I have a mate-”

“Nothing is set in stone yet,” he retorted before I could even finish my statement. A moment passed in silence before he repeated his question. “Did you sleep well?”

“Yes, Darius. I slept well.”

“When is your eighteenth birthday?” he asked.

“I will send you an invitation to the party.”

He nodded and turned down the hall. Darius was the same age as Axel with somewhat similar

responsibilities and personalities but their methods of approaching a woman they were interested in

could not be more different

Then again, I had not seen Axel approach a woman he was interested in so could I really make that

assumption?

Sandra was waiting in the car, her fingers flying across her phone screen. As I sat beside her, she barely acknowledged me until I spoke.

“From the diner, we are going to the university, right?”

“Yeah, I keep Reese company during classes…sometimes,” she trailed off when she realized what she

was saying.
