My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 49

Chapter 49

Axel’s POV

Clan leader Cyrus Crane was a very persistent man. I thought it was already unnatural that he had convinced me to accompany his daughter to a banquet.

Now, how was I on a plane to accompany Celestia to some lecture two hours away?

“Don’t look so grumpy,” she said, poking my cheek with her index finger. “The lectures are really interesting. You might enjoy them. You don’t know.”

It was not that I doubted that some lecture on biology could be interesting. It was just that I would rather not be away from home even longer.

The last message Tony had sent me on Chloe’s well-being was one informing that she was out of the hospital. It was belatedly that I realized that I had not told Chloe where I was going and I did not even have her phone number at all.

Knowing Chloe, she would not have bothered to find out my phone number. For someone so young, she had an uncanny ability to unnerve me, even make me feel incompetent.

At this point, I was almost sure that the only reason she remained engaged to me was for the title of being the fiancee of the Alpha heir. And she hardly ever exercised the authority unless necessary.

“What’s wrong? You keep sighing,” Celestia said, trying to shuffle closer to me.

Would it be too much to raise the barricades between our seats? Of all the empty seats she could stay throughout the private jet, she chose to stay in the one right beside me and not give me any air to breathe.

“Axel?”

Before she could touch me, I stood and walked further down the plane, towards the rooms in the back.” I’m tired. I need to go and rest.”

As I laid down flat on the bed and closed my eyes, Chloe came to mind again. I rolled onto my back and raised the phone so I could look at the screen.

Her phone number was open to text but I just could not bring myself to do it. She was very likely to interpret my checking up on her as a nuisance.

Yet, I could not think of anyone else to ask that would offer me an unbiased answer or tell me to ask her

myself like Tony and my mother would.

Without realizing it, I fell asleep.

“Axel!” Celestia’s loud voice woke me up as she cracked open the door.

I sat up in alarm, my wolf teetering on the surface. A snarl left my lips, startling her. She froze in place,

her eyes wide.

Crap. Why was I so on edge?

“You could have simply knocked on the door. There was no need to enter here,” I said, rubbing my face as I forced my wolf deep r into my mind.

She nodded, forcing on a shaky smile. “Ah. I thought you might not hear me…”

“What do you want?” I asked, getting out of the bed.

Celestia did not answer me immediately. Instead, her hand moved into her hair and she started to twirl it around her finger. “If you want to sleep a little longer, we can…”

I moved past her into the main part of the plane. The flight hostess was cleaning up our seats. “Hey,” I said and she jumped.

“Alpha Axel-”

“Have we arrived?” I asked, looking outside the window. I could see the ground but I could not be sure of
