Chloe’s POV

Axel and I stepped out of the house in unison and all eyes turned to us, varying emotions across their faces.

Curiosity. Shock. Confusion. Irritation even.

Luna Silvia stood from the table and came to hug me first. “Are you alright now, Chloe? You were so upset earlier.”

I smiled warmly at her. “Ah, forgive that outburst. I could have handled that better.”

She linked arms with me. “That was a milder reaction to what I would expect from someone in your position. You did not physically engage with anyone as our wolves are inclined to make us do. Perhaps, it is because you have not shifted yet.”

At that, Celestia looked up, her gaze darting between me and Luna Silvia. She had not been able to confirm that I really had shifted since Alpha Paul sent her out of the hospital room back then.

And our Alpha did not seem like a talkative nor did she seem so important to know confidential matters like such.

When we got to the table, Luna Silvia’s smile slightly flattened. “The thing about young men, Chloe. You need to remind them about the smallest things sometimes like pulling out a chair for their woman.”

Darius looked ready to move but Axel beat him to my chair, glaring at him with fierce competition. I ignored the two men like I did not notice the altercation and simply sat down.

Luna Silvia sat down beside me and then waved the staff to lay out the meals. Axel settled beside me, which happened to be directly opposite Celestia. She kept looking at Axel desperately like she was expecting something of him.

Axel pointedly ignored her but her staring was so obvious that it was making the entire atmosphere uncomfortable.

“Yes, Chloe. You mentioned that you enjoyed the lecture from this morning,” Luna Silvia, said taking charge of the conversation. “You should still be in high school, right? Perhaps your senior year?”
