My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 57

Chapter 57

Chloe’s POV

The sleep vanished from my eyes and I almost fell out of bed. My mind ran the calculations.

Sandra’s kidnap ought to be any day now but the problem was that in my past life, Moonflame had kept the matter quiet. The public never found out exactly where her daughter was kept, not even me.

All I happened to remember was that she was found in some kind of terminal, being smuggled into a transport, to get her further away from Moonflame.

And she was found at least a week after she was taken so I had no idea where she would be now.

Darius entered the room after his mother, his fingers flying across his phone screen. “Her phone is being tracked at the moment. We have the general location and it is nowhere near the pack.”

“I doubt she would be near her phone,” I said, getting to my feet and rushing into the closet. “If they kidnapped her, they would probably leave her phone somewhere else to throw the pack off.”

Normally clear-headed Luna Silvia had her entire body trembling as she tried to figure out what to do.” Do you have any idea where she would be? We’ve checked everywhere she usually frequents and no one saw her come in this morning.”

It was nearly three pm which meant that I had slept in for most of the day. If Sandra had gone from the house an hour or so after she woke me up earlier, then she had been missing for nearly eight hours.

That was enough time to transport her somewhere far.

“I think the question we should be asking is who she was with,” Axel said, joining the impromptu meeting happening at my front door.

He looked past the mother and son into my bedroom. “That human man that she was with. He smelled foul…like the bodies of burned wolves.”

I did not quite have the sensitivity that Axel did. Neither did I know what burned wolves smell like but I could trust Axel for things like this.

Beyond Everdeen, he was famed for having very sharp senses that rivaled even the most experienced Alphas.

“Burned…what?”

Luna Silvia’s voice was barely higher than a whisper, tears brimming in her eyes as her mind ran through the different scenarios, undoubtedly each one worse than the last.

There was no need to hide this anymore. Before I had kept my knowledge that Reese was a hunter because I would not have anyway to explain how I knew about it.

Now that Axel had given a hint, I could always say that Axel and I figured it out together. It was not like

any normal person would pry too deeply.

“Reese is a-”

“-hunter,” Darius completed, realization dawning in his eyes. “That was what you wanted to say, right?”

I nodded. He let out a ragged sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“No wonder she had fallen for him so stupidly. They have all kinds of tricks to charm wolves and keep them wrapped around their fingers until they strike. Sandra would not have enough mental fortitude to

resist a love charm.”

Love charm? Oh. That would explain that zing that I felt yesterday when Reese smiled at me. Multiple

times.

“He tried to use that on me,” I muttered, forgetting for a moment that I had an audience of Alphas.
