My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 59

Chapter 59

Chloe’s POV

I slowed down, reading through the words one by one. He could not have been able to gather so much information on me in the short time since he met me but what he already had was impressive.

For him to be able to pull my academic credentials, research that I had done under another name, even some of the quirky things I had enjoyed when I was a child.

The section on relationships was completely empty, save for the fact that I was engaged to Axel and being chased by Darius. Given time, he might have gotten the chance to study me, showed up at Everdeen in some way and befriended me.

“This is twisted,” I replied, largely impressed by the skill and network of the hunters. They had more skill and expertise than I expected from them.

“You mean, impressive as fuck,” Liam said. “How on Earth did they manage to keep deceiving so many women across the continent and no one caught on?”

“Do you know where she is?” Luna Silvia interjected to add, reminding him of what we asked him to do.

“I am not sure of the current location as the bastard has got a few guards on his phone. If I get a bit more time, I might be able to handle that.” There was a click of his tongue. “Shit. He’s trying to hack me back. They are heading towards a dock, either ship or plane. Give me a minute, pookie.”

Alpha David and Darius swung into action instantly, calling all their warriors to lock down all the waterfronts and ship docks within a hundred-mile radius from Everdeen.

On Liam’s end of the phone, there was more cursing and crass insults, so foul that I was getting second

hand embarrassment.

Luna Silvia did not seem to care as she listened intently to him, passing along any hint that he tossed her way to her husband and son.

With the system going, Axel was able to pull me to his couch and whisper so low that I barely heard him with my enhanced hearing.

“Who is that guy? Where do you guys know each other from?”

His voice was tense and my mind reeled, trying to figure out why he was upset.

It was not really his business so why should he care about my relationships?

“If you are bothered that this will affect the reputation of the pack, you do not need to worry about that. Liam and I are just friends. I am not going to banquets with him as my date—”

“Chloe,” Axel said.

I rolled my eyes, milking out his frustration. Maybe hanging this over his head was petty but I did not

really care for how he saw me as long as he kept his end of the deal.

“You’re my Luna,” he went on to add. “No one is going to change that.”

“Of course, no one would.”

Why would he want to pay the settlement amount that I stipulated in case he decided to break the arrangement before the time was up when he could just endure for a few more months?

Axel let out a relieved yet exhausted sigh. Maybe it was me but in the past two days, his emotions have been more evident than I was used to. It was a bit rattling to reconcile him with the cold Alpha that I knew him as.

“Hold on, Luna?” Liam said, pausing his clicking.

My mind instantly flashed back to a promise that we made those years ago.

If we ever decide to settle with someone else, we would tell each other first.

If I counted my past life, it had been nearly thirteen years since I last spoke to Liam. A casual promise I made when I was fourteen was the last thing that came to mind when I was thinking about my future.

“You went ahead and got hitched without telling me,” Liam said after my silence stretched for a few seconds. “You really did not think about me all this while-”

“They are just engaged,” Darius said without looking up from his phone. “Not married yet.”

“Why don’t you mind your business and leave my mate alone?” Axel spat at Darius. The other man did not care one bit and simply continued typing away at his phone.

Liam was silent for a full minute. When he spoke, I could hear the smile in his voice. It alarmed me more

than anything.

“When you two decide on a wedding date, tell me. I will find a way to make the trip.”

He returned to his work like there was not an underlying tone in his words. What exactly it was, I could not figure out.

“The green lady,” Liam muttered. “What the hell is the green lady? I keep seeing it everywhere on his phone.”

The entire family paused to think.

“Perhaps a store?” Darius offered.

“Perhaps not,” I replied, the full picture coming together in my head. “It sounds like the name of a ship. It makes better sense to use the word docks with a boat or a ship.”

“Smart pookie,” Liam said. “It’s a ship. It sails from further up North in the country and is making a stop tonight at 6 pm before returning to Europe. They might be planning to get on.”
