Chapter 66
Chloe’s POV
Luna Silvia held my hands. “Chloe, are you sure? You really do not have to go. We can convert the guest
room into a permanent bedroom for you.”
“And I will use it when next I come to visit,” I insisted.
Yesterday, I had let her talk me out of leaving for home. Same thing happened the day before that.
But today, Asher and Killian had sent a breakthrough message. A proper breakthrough.
The injection had actually worked for a werewolf. Granted he was a fit, young man who just happened to suffer a blow and go into a coma, it was likely that his body was able to process the medication properly.
Regardless, a win was still a win. I was sure that with a few modifications, it should be ready to be submitted to the International Wolf Medicine Association and patented.
“But I thought you said you liked Moonflame, that you got to sleep in a lot more when you were here,” Luna Silvia tried. “I can adopt you. You will be my goddaughter. Then, you can get all the sleep that you
want-”
“And that is enough,” Axel said, arm wrapping around my shoulder as he steered me away from Luna Silvia towards the helicopter. “We really need to be getting home soon. There is so much that we have missed while we were away.”
We had already been in Moonflame for over two weeks, more than twice the time I packed for. If I did not go back now, Alpha Paul might think that I am starting to reconsider where my allegiance lies.
Not that it was with him anyway. But I had to keep up appearances for now.
Sandra ran up to us and whispered in my ear. “This is for that sister of yours,” she said and slipped a packet into my pocket. “If she pisses you off, laxatives in her dinner.”
I smiled and nodded, knowing that I was not going to use it. I waved at the Alpha couple and their daughter, frowning when I did not see Darius before heading to the helicopter.
The mystery of the missing young Alpha was revealed inside the helicopter. He sat in the chair facing Axel and I with a few boxes by his side. “Are you coming back with us?”
His head tilted. “Not in the way that you think. My parents asked me to deliver something to the Alpha
and Luna of Everdeen.”
I nodded, choosing to mind my business and got on the plane. “Hey, where is Celestia? Isn’t this hers?”
“Technically, my parents bought it off her hands so it is ours now. And for your question-” His eyes flashed dangerously, still burning in fury from her mistake that could have cost his sister’s life or at least, her body. “I sent her on a road trip. Hopefully, she arrives at Everdeen in one piece.”

My lips pressed together as I thought of the implication of Moonflame’s treatment of Celestia when the news reached her father’s ears. He could not outrightly take it up with Moonflame but he would definitely give Axel and me, by extension, a hard time.
I had to be ready for anything.
In the air, there was a bit of turbulence. I swayed and fell right onto a sleeping Axel. His eyes blinked open slowly and he looked down at me and then, my hands on his chest that I had used to stabilize myself.
My body jerked back, an apology on the tip of my tongue when I felt his hand in my hair. With his eyes closed, he guided me onto his shoulder in a comfortable enough position to sleep before falling back. asleep himself.
Did he think I had dozed and fallen on him?
Regardless, I did not move, his warm hand around my torso, lulling me to sleep.
I was woken up by Axel tapping my shoulder. I straightened abruptly, bumping his jaw with my head.
Both of us hissed in pain, darting away from each other.
“We are home,” he said, pointing outside. The helicopter was right in front of the pack house with a small audience in the middle of it.
After all, it was not everyday that a helicopter landed right in the heart of the pack. Darius moved and opened the doors, stepping out first with the boxes he came with.
Axel came down afterwards, holding my hand so I would not trip on the stairs.
“Father. Mother,” he said in greeting and I did a small curtsey to them, bowing my head.
“You sure enjoyed your stay in another pack,” Alpha Paul said, never missing a moment to send a jab at me. However, his eyes were not as harsh as his words were intended to be.
“Moonflame was a delightful experience,” I replied, my tone respectful. “There was so much to see and learn that I lost track of time. Forgive my naivety.”
Luna Diane stepped in, her hand linking around her mate’s arm. “You cannot help it. Of course, you will be excited about your first trip outside the pack…may I inquire why young Alpha Darius returned with you?”
“I was given a message from my father,” he said and opened the first box he was carrying. The jewels inside were nearly blinding. “Future Luna Chloe has been a blessing to Moonflame, saving the lives of all the members of the Alpha family from the attack of hunters. This is but a small token of our gratitude to
Everdeen.”
My eyes looked down to the two other boxes on either side of him.
How much money had been burned on all of this? Millions?
