My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Chloe’s POV

The moment we were off the Alpha’s floor, Hannah let out a shrill scream of pure anger.

“You idiot!” she snarled at me. “What the hell were you thinking, giving all that money away?”

My head tilted. “Away? I was giving it to the pack that raised me. Or do you not care about the pack? As a member of the Alpha family, you need to have a lot more insight into what really matters, you know.”

My head was knocked back from the force of her slap. My hand lifted to my red cheek, feeling the

imprints of her fingers.

Her entire body trembled with pure anger, wolf undulating on the surface. Just a few jewels and she was already driven to this level of fury.

“How dare you lecture me like I am a child?” she growled, unable to keep her wolf under control. Her teeth were already elongating, her claws sharpening. “I am going to be the Luna of this pack. How dare you treat me with such disrespect-”

With her filthy words still in her mouth, I returned her slap with even more force than she did. Hannah flew back in the air a few feet before knocking against the wall.

Both of us had shifted in the same week but in the past few months since then, I have been through moonshade poisoning and silver poisoning, two very deadly substances to wolves.

My wolf emerging from it would mean a kind of strength and control that Hannah could only dream of achieving in two to three years of consistent training. Now, she was not even training at all, spending her days scheming and chatting with her girlfriends.

While I was pushing my body and my mind to the very limits every single day. She could not possibly think we were even on the same level.

I walked towards her slowly. She was still stuck in her half-shifted state, her eyes dazed in shock as she tried to process what had just happened.

I held my wrist in a way to show that it was either limp or broken. If I appeared completely fine after hitting her like that, it might tip her off that I was not the same seventeen-year-old girl that she knew.

“Sorry about that. There was a bug that was crawling on your face.” I grabbed her chin between my thumb and index finger and turned her head so quickly that there was a crack in her neck. “Does it sting?”

My mockery sent her over the edge. She snarled and shoved me to the ground hard, my head knocking back against the tiled floors.

Just before she was about to sink a punch into me, a biting voice came from the end of the corridor.

“What, in the Goddess’ name, do you think you are doing, Hannah?”

Luna Diane crossed the corridor in milliseconds and knocked Hannah off my body with one hand. Hannah flew back and slammed into the wall again, this time pain wracking through her body.

Luna Diane helped me sit up, turning my head as she saw the indents of Hannah’s fingers on my cheek. Her fingers lightly brushed the mark, eyes blazing with fury.

“David, this daughter of yours is no longer welcome in the pack house,” she said.

David?

I looked towards the end of the corridor and saw David and my mother frozen in the doorway. He would have rushed to Hannah that very moment if a hand had not closed over his shoulder and knocked him

out of the way.

Axel rushed towards me, lowering to a squat beside his mother to examine my body.

Mark on my face. Bruise at the back of my head. There was a stickiness spreading through my back. Axel noticed as the first drop of blood hit the floor.

Mother let out a small shriek, looking like she wanted to run towards me but she held herself back.

I could not even pretend like I did not know that David had made her stay away from me. What hurt me was the fact that she actually listened.

She could have told me about it before packing up and divorcing him. I would support her with the money that I had been able to save up which was now over a million if I counted the amount that Sandra had given me in gold.

When I was finally eighteen and could leave the pack, we could go somewhere far away. Maybe even out

of the country.

All of these were just dreams and I knew it. Mother would never give up her rich, cushy life for even a

shred of discomfort.

“What is that?” Luna Diane asked, looking behind me.

“The wound she got from the fight with the kidnappers. It has reopened,” Axel said and lifted me from the ground into his arms. “We need to take her to the hospital to make sure that there are no complications.”

I was really beginning to hate this kind of life. This was the third time I would be checked into a hospital in two months.

Axel walked with me towards the door and then turned around to look at Hannah. “Do not think this matter is going to blow over. You hurt my Luna, knowing fully well that she would not be able to defend herself.”

He looked at David and my mother. “The four of us will have a very serious talk later.”

As he walked with me downstairs, he met Jax on the stairs running up. When he saw the blood soaking
