My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 76

Chapter 76

Hannah’s POV-

The look of Jax’s face was starting to annoy me. How could he be sleeping at a time like this?

I was fighting tooth and nail to make him Alpha, trying to make Chloe look bad and drag Axel down. Yet, all Jax knew was going about his day, content in being in his brother’s shadow forever.

How was he going to become Alpha like this?

When he let out a particularly loud snore, I lost it and kicked his shin. His eyes snapped open instantly, a low growl slipping from his lips. I quickly disguised as though I had been asleep before stretching my hands over my head and sitting up slowly.

“Baby,” I said through a fake groggy voice. “What’s wrong?”

Jax calmed down, one of his charming smiles slipping onto his face. “Did I wake you? I am so sorry. I thought there was an intruder.”

When he spoke so gently to me, it was easy to forgive him. This intimacy was what Chloe enjoyed in her past life. This time around, the gifts, the love, the attention, everything was mine.

If only I could find a way to make Jax Alpha quicker so that I could become Luna.

Jax climbed out of bed, dragging his feet to the bathroom. I watched him move around the room for a minute or two. “What are you doing?” I asked him as he was putting on his hoodie that had been discarded on the floor the night before.

“Getting home. Mother would probably send someone to check if I slept at the house last night,” he said and was about to climb out the window.

I got out of bed and held him back. “Jax, I am your mate. Why can’t you talk to your parents about letting me sleep in the pack house. There is a whole bedroom reserved for me, isn’t there?!”

Of course, I wanted the bedroom of the Luna that I had had in my past life but as long as I got to sleep on the floor where the Alphas stayed, even Chloe’s former bedroom would do.

Everyone kept asking why I did not sleep in the pack house, assuming that the Alpha family did not see me as their daughter-in-law.

Alpha Paul wanted me to be his daughter-in-law for years so I was more deserving of being in the pack house unlike Chloe who happened to coast into the Luna position on my grace.

The only reason Alpha Paul would have let her, a girl who has not even been marked, and not me who is actually his son’s mate is Axel. Axel must have spoken to his father to get the permission.

Which was why it irritated me that Jax was such a coward. He had the skill to run a pack as successfully as he did in my past life and he was hiding now. If his father knew how talented Jax was, Alpha Paul might actually treat him better than Axel.

Axel was so useless that he could not even prevent himself from dying in an ordinary fire. What kind of Alpha gets killed by fire?

I was so lost in thought that I did not realize that Jax had shrugged my hands off him and jumped out the window. When he was on the ground, he turned back and whisper-yelled, “I will see you later.”

Before I could say anything, he ran into the forest. I let out a small sound of irritation as I slumped back on my bed.

This was all for the greater good. I had to see the big picture but why was it so damn annoying?!

I laid in my bed, tossing and turning until morning, only getting out of bed when I smelled the aroma of breakfast wafting up the stairs.

Sophia was in the kitchen cooking when I came down. I sat down at the dining table, disgust flashing across my face as the oil shone on the eggs

“Can you be any more stupid?” I snapped and something in the kitchen clattered to the floor, the sound echoing through the whole house. “I told you that I did not like oil on my eggs!”

Sophia darted out of the kitchen, her head low as she took the plate from the table. “S-Sorry-”

“Speak clearly. Ugh!” I rolled my eyes. “I wonder why my dad keeps you around. I should ask him to get rid of you …that’s better.”

Her head was bowed lower as she took the plate away. I could not help the smirk that slipped onto my face. Sophia was completely putty in my father’s hands. Just one word from him and she would come running to do his bidding

Originally, I thought that because her mother was still in this house, Chloe would be a bit more sensible. Rather, she did not seem to care for anyone around her, not even her relationship with Axel.
