My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 80

Chapter 80

Chloe’s POV

Axel was in front of the pack house, talking to Tony when the car pulled up.

He paused and they both turned, watching me get down from the car. “How was your meeting?” Axel asked me.

I could not help but smile when I thought about Luna Silvia and how much of a darling that she was “It was very fruitful. I bought fruits to make a salad. Would you care for some?”

Axel’s head tilted slightly. “You want to make a salad for me?”

Irritation built up so quickly in my best that I wanted to bite my tongue off for thinking of suggesting the idea to him. “What. Are you too important for healthy eating? My mistake—”

“I would love a salad,” Axel cut in to say. Tony opened his mouth but Axel shot him a glare, already following after me. “Perhaps I can join you in the kitchen.”

What was he trying to do now? I do not want to go out of my way to spend more time with him than was necessary

“I remember that someone said that my involvement with the kitchen was besmirching the Alpha family’s reputation,” I hissed, pointedly warning him to back off.

Axel smiled, shrugging his shoulders casually. “Who on Earth could have said such a thing? I should give them a stern talking to for telling my Luna that there was nowhere she could not visit within these walls.”

He was so annoyingly persistent that it even impressed me. Arguing with him like this was only going to drive me insane so I might as well let him do what he wanted.

Seeing that I was no longer resisting, he smiled even wider and followed after me. As we crossed into the packhouse, he took the shopping bag that was in my hand.

“Is that for me?” He said, taking the box out and opening it. I watched his expression change from a casual smile to something almost fond that made me uncomfortable. “Thank you.”

“I paid for it with your money,” I mumbled, trying to escape the uncomfortable situation but he held me back, arm easily slipping around my waist.

“It does not matter. This is your first gift to me so far. I don’t even know if I can bring myself to use it,” he said, setting down the box so he could brush my hair out of my face.

Axel was turning the charm up. Way too much that I was certain that this was an act.

I held his collar and pulled him closer. “Where is he?” I whispered in his ear. I was not sure who he was exactly but I was sure that someone was watching us to fuel this act of his.

Axel took a moment before he answered, lips brushing my neck. “Crane. The bend in the wall at the top of the stairs.”

I did not look as that would give away the fact that we knew that he was there. My arms wrapped around Axel’s neck. “Behave yourself,” I said louder. “We can continue this tonight.”

I let go of him, picked up the other bag of fruit and walked to the kitchen. Axel stared at me for a few seconds longer like he was entranced and followed me.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, a dangerous thought started to bud.

The way Axel looked at me. It was as though he was hanging on my every word. What if that became a reality?

ad ten years of experience under my belt. In my past life, I had studied all the tips and tricks on how to keep a man wrapped around my finger so I could try them with Jax. They would have worked if Jax was not a naturally fickle person.

Hannah complained that Axel was many things but disloyal was never really one of them. Maybe because Celestia- did not come up in my past life. But he seemed more decent than his scumbag of a brother.

As the thought came, I banished it immediately. My plan was to leave Everdeen when the time came in just a few/ months. Nothing was going to make me overstay my welcome, much less the flowery words of another Everdeen

man.

As I had seen before when we were back in the cabin, Axel was not completely useless in the kitchen. He let me order him on what to do to the utter horror of the cooks. They stayed huddled in the corner shivering like they were expecting someone to jump out of a shadow and condemn them to death.

“I want to make a dessert for Luna as well,” I told him. “Pass me the vanilla.”

Axel leaned over my shoulder as he watched me mix the ingredients for the tiramisu sundae. When I was putting the toppings on, he asked, “Where did you learn this from?”

“Cookbook,” I replied vaguely. “Hey, bring the salad out of the fridge. I want to give this to Luna Diane.”

I was about to step out when Celestia walked into the kitchen. Her eyes moved from me to Axel, both of us covered in different food prep ingredients. As much as Axel was a good cook, he was messy. I had not even gone near the bag of flour but somehow, he had a strip on his cheek.

“If you won’t mind stepping out of the way,” I said, taking a step back.
