Chapter 82
Hannah’s POV
Celestia and I were having tea in the guest cabin when the door slammed open and her aunt, Laeticia, stomped in, her entire body radiating fury.
I got to my feet slowly with a coy smile as I curtsied in front of her. “Ms. Laeticia, it is an honor to meet you.”
It seemed that she had not even noticed my presence until I spoke. When she heard my voice, she paused and turned to face me. She only seemed to get angrier with me when we made eye contact.’
“What is she doing here?” Laeticia spat, coming closer. I had heard stories of her rage even right from my past life and really, it was terrifying to be on the receiving end of it but I steeled my nerves and retained my smile.
As expected, Celestia came to my defense. “Aunty, I invited her here. As it turned out, Hannah and I have so much in common…by that reaction, I am guessing that you have met Chloe.”
Celestia’s voice tightened. “That disrespectful little thing…she thinks she is the owner of this pack because she has Axel backing her.”
I let out a small chuckle and the two snapped their attention to me. Laeticia growled low. “You think this is funny?”
I shook my hand. “Of course not, ma’am. If this matter bothers you so, it cannot be made jest of. I only laughed because you said Axel was backing her. He barely knows my sister. All of their interactions are just theatrics.”
Laeticia’s brows furrowed, her anger slowly dissipating from her body. “What do you mean? Axel does not have feelings for your sister?”
“Maybe feelings of duty or responsibility. Romantic, no.”
My jaw tightened a little when I remembered how he treated me in my past life. Axel did not have a shred of care in his entire body. Because of how he had neglected me, I was not even able to maintain my Luna position after he passed.
Since he chose to be such a jerk, he did not deserve the Alpha position. I would give it to my mate and enjoy all the love and attention that Jax showered on me while enjoying the power and prestige that came with being Luna.
The moment Chloe was kicked out, Jax and I would be able to question Axel’s legitimacy to the Alpha position since he did not have a named Luna. If he found another one, we would just say that he was looking for one without considering her capability to lead the pack.
If we dragged this out long enough, he would die soon enough and Jax would be named Alpha anyway.
It looked like a sloppy plan but it would work, especially now that I knew that the Crane family would rather bite their tongues to kill themselves than let Chloe be named the official Luna heir and hold her mating ceremony.
“I am sure that she must have picked up a few tricks from her mother on how to trap a man,” I said, letting my voice darken like I was holding resentment against Sophia.
I was not. There was no need to when Sophia knew her place.
Laeticia looked at her niece and Celestia nodded. The older woman nodded slowly. “The mother and daughter pair are teaming up to get both the Alpha and Beta families under their control, huh? Those sluts.”
It was difficult to hide my smile so I had to raise my hand to cover my mouth.

Good. This was the anger I needed. All the Crane women needed to do was petition Clan Leader Crane and he would pull evidence out of his ass to dispute Chloe’s right to her position.
“How dare she try to take your Luna position?” Laeticia spat and I paused, replaying her words in my head. What did she mean by that?
Celestia walked forward with a tight smile plastered on her face and linked arms with me. “Aunty, you know that am only doing this because I care about Axel. I am already in marriage talks with another Alpha but I cannot let Axel be swindled by some teenage girl.”
That was what Celestia told me but why did it sound like she was informing Laeticia. Was Laeticia/not aware of her own niece’s marriage situation.
Laeticia let out an annoyed breath, her eyes darting to me momentarily and then, back to her niece. “Right, I forgot about that. My head has just been everywhere. I just cannot imagine that the pack that we have worked so hard to maintain all these years would end up being snatched by some women with unknown origin.”
She walked forward and set her hands down on my shoulders. “You are a very sensible girl, Hannah. It must hurt to talk about the woman that your father chose to be your new mother like that but you choose to do the right thing. You would have made a fine Luna.”
Would have? Excuse me?
Before I could find a way to press further, Clan Leader Crane himself stepped into the house, looking like he had heard our entire conversation. “Celestia, why don’t you escort the young woman home? I am sure Jax must be going out of his mind looking for his mate.”
Celestia smiled wider and started to drag me with her as we walked. I turned around in time to see the Crane siblings staring, no, glaring at me like I was an obstacle.
I forced on a smile though I realized something had gone very wrong with my plans. Did they not trust me?
