Chapter 86
Hannah’s POV
The moment that Axel and Chloe were through the door, Celestia let her anger explode. She moved and grabbed my fists before dragging me out of the house.
I followed after her, struggling to keep up with her pace. She was just two years older than me but she was evidently stronger. All the years that I had spent in my past life learning about my wolf had practically vanished.
I was still struggling to get used to my wolf’s power and now, I had even less time to train. Dad kept bothering me to study so that I could one-up Chloe. And now, I had to spend most of my day going around and pleasing the Crane family so I could remain on their good side.
However, I knew of the possibility that this could happen. All it would take was one upsetting incident and Celestia and her people could turn their anger to me because they could not really be angry at Chloe.
“What the hell was that?” Celestia spat the moment we were out of earshot from the packhouse.
I kept my polite smile on my face. “I am not quite sure of what you mean-”
“Do not mess around with me, Hannah!” Celestia spat, her wolf’s power slipping into her voice. “You said that Axel and Chloe were not a real couple.”
I never actually said that and left the assumption up to her but I had heavily implied it so it must have felt all the same to her.
I wrung my fingers like I was confused and nervous. “Axel did not hold any feelings for Chloe just a few months ago.”
I wanted to add that he and his father wanted me to marry him but I did not think that was what Celestia needed to hear right now. What I needed to do now was separate myself from Chloe and Axel’s relationship as much as possible and identify as an outsider.
“I can try to help you find out what is going on-”
Celestia clicked her tongue like suddenly, I was irritating her more than my sister. “Forget it,” she spat as she stomped away.
My brows furrowed, trying to understand what on Earth was going on. This would not be the first time that she had given me such a reaction to something about Axel.
In my past life, I never had any rival in love with Axel. He was too rigid to have any former loves. Even Celestia had never showed up, despite me hearing so much about her and her past relationship with Axel.
Since things had already changed in this current life, I planned to use the variable of her turning up at the pack house to try to accelerate my plan but had I miscalculated somewhere?
Axel was being warmer to Chloe than he had ever been to me. Celestia, who was supposed to be the childhood love, was actively getting sidelined even while living in the pack house. Even if Axel and Chloe were pretending, what would be the reason?
Yes, I was his Luna in my past life but he never saw any reason to pretend that he was cordial with me. Both of us barely ever even shared a bed and when we did, he never finished inside of me so I was never able to have children.
Why was he being so nice to Chloe now? My mind kept going to the conclusion that he was trying to get Celestia off of his back but that did not make sense.

Him and Celestia were old news. If he had been cheating on me in my past life, the news would have gotten to me.
Besides, Celestia was already having marriage talks with other Alpha families. Alpha Paul would not risk bringing someone like her into his family when she could bring diplomatic disputes alongside. Also, her becoming Luna would be a stepping stone for the Crane family to have as much political power as the Alpha family.
That was the last thing Alpha Paul wanted which was why he made it so that Dad’s two daughters would be married to his two sons. Though he seemed not to like Chloe, he was not protesting much because the entire plan had worked out the way he wanted it regardless.
So Celestia’s anger had to be stemming from somewhere else. Did she still have feelings for Axel?
Even if she did, what was her benefit by trying to drive Chloe out? She still would not be able to become Luna because she was already about to be betrothed.
Hold on. About to be?
My mind suddenly flashed back to that strange look Laeticia and Celestia shared when I was at their house the last time. It was as though Laeticia did not know that her own niece was having marriage talks.
“How could I be so stupid?” I muttered to myself, jaw clenched.
They were lying to me. Of course, they were lying to me.
