My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 89

Chapter 89

Chloe’s POV

I did not count myself a very naturally competitive person but for this simple match, my wolf had even risen to the surface. Maybe it was a bit unfair to play against a human with the help of my wolf’s senses but my pride would not suffer defeat.

I refused to let this smug wannabe mistress walk away, thinking she was better than me. I had enough of that treatment back home. Perhaps that was why it was so irritating to have her look down on me.

How dare she request a date with my fiance to my face? All that foundation on her face must have gone to her brain.

“Axel, why don’t you keep score?” Lisa said, batting her eyelashes at him.

Axel looked intensely uncomfortable with the entire arrangement, turning to me for permission. I sighed and nodded, feeling a bit guilty for dragging him into this when he evidently wanted out but I wanted to do this for the sake of my pride.

Even if she won by some stroke of miracle, there was no way I would actually let her go on a date with my fiance.

“Axel,” I called his name, forcing him to look at my face. Then, I let my eyes move from the natural color of my eyes to my wolf’s.

Just a split second to tell him what I was planning to do.

His entire face lit up, his lips twitching as he struggled to keep his smile at bay. Lisa frowned, looking between the two of us but she could not figure out what had just happened.

Axel even went as far as calling other people over to watch the match. It did not take long for them to infer what was going on. Lisa and I got into position, waiting for his signal.

The moment the puck moved, my body moved before I could even process what I was seeing. Lisa’s jaw fell open as I scored the first point.

She straightened, staring at the table to try and recall what had just happened. “What did you just do?”

“Are we playing or what?” I asked her with a raised brow.

She muttered something about it being a fluke and shook her head. “I was not ready that time. Let’s continue.”

By the fourth win, I realized that I did not even need to use my wolf’s senses. Lisa was not bad at the game; she was just not so good that I needed to have a cheat to play against her.

When I eased my wolf into the back of my mind, the game started to drag longer and I actually started to enjoy it. Still, I did not take another minute to score two more goals.

I leaned forward on the table as the puck went in her goal the seventh time. “Come on, Lisa, are you even trying? You did not think I would give away my man to you so easily, did you?”

Her face was flushed, fist tight around her handle. It would be easier for her to give up now and disappear from public eye for a few weeks but I knew her kind. She would not be able to sleep at night, knowing that her ass just got handed to her by a kid,

Axel was at my side of the table, his fingers playing with my hair. He was no longer watching the game.

“Chlo, I saw a game on that side too. I think we should try it when we are done here,” he said. “Though I did want

to play air hockey with you-

You still can. Why not help Lisa make up the point difference?” My suggestion made the entire crowd chuckle and gasp. “Now, picking on the weak is starting to make me feel like a bully.”

“I don’t need your charity!” she spat, inalice in her voice. Goddess, could she be any more self-absorbed?

The crowd began to cheer on my suggestion.

“Man, just play against your girl.”

“Yeah, the show is just getting good.”

I gave Axel a look and he frowned deeper, fingers brushing my chin. “I cannot win against you. That would mean that I have to go with…her…”

He spat out her like it was venom, sending Lisa a disgusted look. Lisa gasped, looking like she wanted to cry but she stubbornly stood on the other side of the air hockey table.

My hands fell on Axel’s shoulders. “Come on, just do it. If you play me well today, you get to pick the location of our next date.”

Axel grinned and he leaned closer to whisper so only me could hear. “You promised me a next date. Don’t you dare forget that.”

I let out a small gasp, my fingers lifting to my lips. What was I thinking?

No, I was not thinking. Somewhere along the line, I had slowly started to forget that this was not real. That we were out together because we were trying to piss someone off.
