Chloe’s POV

I was passing by the backyard to head back into the pack house when I heard the sound of skin meeting skin harsh. A slap. A hard one.

It was already dark so most people had gone in for the night. Whoever was still out here was having some form of secret meeting.

My legs carried me back before I could stifle my curiosity but I hid myself so I could peek around the corner of the house. The scene before me could bring tears of joy to my eyes.

Celestia faced Hannah, her chest heaving up and down with pure rage. Hannah’s hand was slowly lifting to her cheek, her eyes wide as if she could not believe what just happened to her.

“You…you slapped me,” Hannah whispered. Against my better judgment, my heart went out to her in her shock. Even David never hit her, not to talk of some random overzealous lover.

“You bitch,” Celestia snarled. “What was that information you gave me? You are working with your sister, aren’t you? You two are trying to make a mess of me and my family. Do you think the Crane family are a bunch of playthings?!”

Suddenly, Celestia let out a small snort. “Unless…you want Axel for yourself as well. Two sisters sharing men. You pretend that you love Jax, hook him in while you send your seemingly weak sister to hook the future Alpha in. Your whole family is in on this.”

It was fascinating how much of a spiral her mind was going down. She could not accept that Axel and his father had started to see the Crane family for what they truly were so she had to find a place to transfer the blame.

And because my sister had dug herself too deep into the put with whatever nonsense she had said to Celestia and her family, she was the perfect target.

“Why the hell will you think that?” Hannah spat, slowly recovering her composure. A familiar cruel smirk slipped onto her face. “How is it my fault that you keep losing to the seemingly weak girl when I gave you everything you needed to bring her down?”

Celestia’s fists tightened and I feared she was going to take a swig at Hannah. “That degree was real.”

Hannah’s expression cracked. “Excuse me? Chloe barely finished high school.”

“You mean to tell me that you do not know the schools your sister went to?” Celestia scoffed. “Don’t make me laugh.”

Hannah had now given up her arguing and was now trying to defend herself. “I actually did not know. Shit, when did Chloe go to college? She is not smart enough for things like that!”

No matter what Hannah said, Celestia would find it hard to believe that any word from her mouth was true so she just bumped Hannah’s shoulder as she walked away. “I will get you back for this,” Celestia promised, her eyes hard to show that she was going to fulfill her threat.

The night fell into complete silence as Celestia shifted into her wolf and disappeared into the forest.

Hannah’s knees buckled and she slacked against the pillar of the house. She was so lost in thought that she did not even realize me approaching her that I was standing right behind her.

“Tough night?” I asked and she jumped three feet away, her claws coming out.

I smiled at her, rolling my eyes. “Come on. Do not be so jittery. I am not stupid enough to hurt you.” I lowered my voice. “At least not here.”

Hannah’s face completely fell and exposed something dark and vulnerable. After all that she had done to me since I met her, in my past life and current life, seeing her weak in front of me was barely scratching the surface of my annoyance.

“You…you knew. You knew about all of this.”

“Of course, I did.” My head tilted. “Do you think I am an idiot like you? If you were trying to switch up things in the leadership of the pack, the least you could do was not be so obvious.”

And not be so controllable. The only reason that this elaborate plan with Axel had worked was because Hannah was so predictable. By controlling Hannah’s actions and using Celestia’s jealousy, Axel and I had been able to maximize damage to their clan’s reputation.

However, we were not done yet. After all, I needed to get revenge for my dear sister.

I grabbed Hannah’s jaw and turned to see the red marks. Celestia’s fingers were imprinted hard on Hannah’s face, the cheek slowly swelling up.

If I had accidentally done something so stupid like Hannah did, tomorrow, I could be the one getting slapped like that. The Crane family had to go.

“No one gets the right to touch any member of our family,” I muttered like I had some kind of righteous desire to truly protect them.

Hannah’s brows furrowed and she tossed my hand away from her face. “What the hell are you doing? Stay away from me,” she cried and pushed me by my shoulder with her wolf’s strength
