Seraphina's postpartum recovery progressed much faster than expected, and three days later, she was officially discharged from the hospital with the baby.
The weather was absolutely beautiful on the day they left.
Lucian specifically came to pick them up and bring them home.
He had been practically living at the hospital these past few days.
Sitting in the back seat, holding a tightly bundled Hudson Langford, Seraphina felt a profound wave of emotion wash over her.
Everything in the past felt like a distant dream.
At this time last year, she had still been engaged to Sebastian Sullivan.
But now, not only was she Lucian's wife, she was also a mother to Little Bean.
It was truly unbelievable.
"What's on your mind?" Lucian asked with concern, noticing that Seraphina was zoning out.
"Nothing, just feeling a little emotional. I'm just so glad we can finally go home," she said, letting out a long sigh of relief.
Lucian continued, "Are your stitches still hurting?"
"Not anymore," Seraphina replied, shaking her head. "Just a little sore, but the doctor said that's perfectly normal and it'll fade with time."
Lucian nodded. As long as she was okay, that was all that mattered.
Before long, the car pulled into the driveway of Lyra Bay.
Susan had spent the last few days getting the rooms perfectly prepped, and she was already standing by the door waiting to welcome them.
"Ma'am, let me take the young heir. Take your time getting out."
"It's alright, I've got him," Seraphina said, carefully stepping out of the car with Hudson in her arms. Her movements were already much more practiced than they had been a few days ago.
A gentle breeze brushed against Little Bean's face, causing him to wrinkle his tiny nose and let out a sneeze.
"Oh my, we can't let the young heir catch a chill!" Susan rushed forward anxiously.
Seraphina laughed. "Susan, he's not that fragile. A little sneeze is nothing to worry about."
Susan refused to yield, muttering under her breath, "Newborns need the utmost care! They shouldn't even be out in the wind, let alone sneezing..."
Knowing Susan meant well, Seraphina didn't argue further and carried Hudson into the house.
The nursery was on the second floor, in the south-facing room that caught the best sunlight.
