The two of them used to run in entirely different circles, yet now they were constantly being photographed together.

Setting her phone aside, Seraphina walked over to the crib and gazed down at Little Bean, who was fast asleep.

"Your mom might not be a corporate shark, but my intuition is pretty sharp," she murmured softly. "Melody and Landon suddenly parading their romance around... it feels like they're putting on a show."

Little Bean shifted in his sleep, his tiny brow furrowing as if he were agreeing with her.

Seraphina couldn't help but smile. "You think so too?"

She enjoyed these little one-sided conversations. It was oddly comforting.

Sometimes, she truly felt like Little Bean could understand every word she said.

Tucking the blanket securely around him, Seraphina quietly slipped out of the nursery.

Just as she reached the top of the stairs, she heard the front door open.

Lucian was home.

She hurried down and found him in the foyer, swapping his dress shoes for slippers. His suit jacket was slung casually over his arm, and exhaustion lingered in the lines of his face.

"You're back." She walked over, taking his jacket and hanging it up. "Long day?"

"It was fine." Lucian pinched the bridge of his nose. "Back-to-back meetings. Then I had a chat with the founder of Paradox."

Seraphina's chest tightened. "And? Did he agree?"

"We're still negotiating." Lucian wrapped an arm around her shoulder, guiding her toward the living room. "Alistair Fletcher is proving to be a tough negotiator. He wants the capital, but he refuses to let go of the reins."

Seraphina pressed her lips together.

Little Bean had warned her that Paradox was the golden ticket Landon needed to stage a comeback.
