My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 333

Charlene and Lawrence walked into the manor, but the moment Charlene saw the courtyard's setup, her smile instantly froze.

Massive white tents, exquisite floral arrangements, and even matching sets of fine bone china for the tableware.

The sheer scale and extravagance overshadowed any event she had ever hosted in the past.

"Wow, what a grand spectacle," Charlene remarked, her tone dripping with sourness.

"Eleanor must have spared no expense for this celebration."

Lawrence didn't respond, merely glancing around with a calm, unreadable expression.

Charlene felt a bitter knot tighten in her chest.

She leaned closer to Lawrence and lowered her voice, "What is Eleanor trying to prove? When our Landon was born, his gala was just held in some ordinary hotel. It was nothing special. But look at this! She practically turned the entire manor upside down for them."

"That was over twenty years ago," Lawrence replied flatly.

"So what if it was twenty years ago? Eleanor is just biased. She's always favored the eldest branch. Lucian gets married and has a kid, and she's ready to empty the family vaults for him. But what about our Landon? Who ever cared about him?"

Lawrence's footsteps paused, and he shot Charlene a chilling glare.

"Today is Hudson's celebration. Keep your mouth shut."

Charlene felt a shiver of fear under his gaze and finally clamped her mouth shut, though her face remained dark with simmering resentment.

The couple entered the banquet hall. Eleanor was chatting with a few old friends, and when she saw them, she waved with a bright smile.

"Lawrence, Charlene, you're here. Come sit."

Charlene immediately plastered on a flawless smile and hurried over. "Eleanor, that dress looks absolutely stunning on you today. You're practically glowing; you look ten years younger!"

Eleanor beamed, thoroughly pleased. "You always know exactly what to say."

Charlene glanced around, feigning casual curiosity. "Where are Lucian and Sera? Have they not arrived yet?"

"They got here ages ago and are resting upstairs. I didn't want the noise bothering the baby, so I had them settle in the room first," Eleanor said, her wrinkles softening into a look of pure adoration at the mention of her great-grandson.

Charlene felt another sharp wave of jealousy wash over her.
