My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 370

Watching Lucian's taillights disappear furiously into the distance, a sudden, burning heat pricked at the corners of Seraphina's eyes.

A harsh gust of wind swept past, raising a field of goosebumps along her bare arms.

She rubbed them briskly, muttering, "It's freezing."

Right at that moment, her phone buzzed. Pulling it from her clutch, she saw it was a call from Tiffany.

She hesitated for a beat before swiping to answer.

Tiffany's excited voice bubbled through the speaker. "Girl, are you guys home yet? Don't tell me Lucian didn't plan anything else after that stupid construction site!"

"Is he seriously that utterly devoid of romance?"

Seraphina stayed silent, letting Tiffany's animated rambling wash over her.

Eventually, Tiffany realized something was off. "Wait a second. Where are you? Why do I hear so much wind, and why is it so dead quiet out there?"

"Tiffany, can you come pick me up?"

Tiffany gasped. "What? Where are you? Stop scaring me! Where's your husband? Where the hell did Lucian go?"

Seraphina bit her lip, pausing for a long moment before answering, "He had an emergency. He left."

She took a breath. "I'm not exactly sure where I am. I think I'm somewhere out on the highway. I'll drop you a pin."

"Okay, stay right there!" Tiffany demanded frantically. "I'm on my way."

Through the receiver, Seraphina could hear the chaotic rustling of Tiffany grabbing her keys and coat.

Terrified something might happen, Tiffany begged her to stay on the line.

"My battery is at eighteen percent. I need to save it. Just hurry."

Before Tiffany could argue, Seraphina ended the call.

Standing entirely alone, Seraphina scanned her bleak surroundings. The wind howled relentlessly, and everything beyond the pool of the single, dim streetlamp was pitched in an unnerving, absolute black.

She pressed her lips together, her eyes darting nervously through the shadows.

Suddenly, the harsh roar of a motorcycle engine shattered the silence.

Two scruffy men pulled up right in front of her. The driver had bleached blond hair, and the passenger rocked a messy red dye job.

They killed the engine, their eyes raking greedily up and down Seraphina's figure.

The blond thug whistled sharply.
