My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 369

Lucian turned on the car's audio system, and a soothing, elegant piano melody filled the cabin.

Seraphina had been resting with her eyes closed, but at the sound of the music, her eyes fluttered open to look at him.

Catching her gaze, Lucian offered a small smile. "Do you like this piece?"

Seraphina nodded slightly. "This was my ringtone back in college. But later..."

"Later what?" Lucian asked, keeping his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Seraphina parted her lips, just about to explain, when Lucian's phone suddenly started vibrating furiously.

"Your phone is ringing," Seraphina pointed out.

Lucian gave a nonchalant hum. "Check and see who it is. If it's not important, just decline it for me."

Seraphina's lips twitched slightly. How was she supposed to know what qualified as important?

She picked up the phone, but the moment she saw the screen, her movements froze completely.

"What is it?"

"It's Melody," Seraphina said, her lips pressing into a thin line.

Lucian's expression didn't shift in the slightest. "Ignore it," he said coolly.

Seraphina shot him a look, dropped her eyes back to the screen, and hit decline.

Lucian kept staring straight ahead, completely unbothered.

But a second later, the phone buzzed to life again. It was Melody once more.

Seraphina stared at the screen. "What if it's something incredibly urgent?"

Lucian answered without a shred of hesitation, "Even if it is, it's none of my business."

Seraphina fell silent, letting the phone vibrate until it eventually stopped.

She thought Melody had finally given up, but then the screen lit up for a third time.

This time, Seraphina's finger slipped and accidentally tapped the accept button.

Whatever Melody said on the other end made his brow twist into a furious knot.

"Alright. I'm on my way."

Ending the call, Lucian turned to Seraphina, his eyes full of guilt. "Seraphina, I'm so sorry. Something urgent just came up that I have to handle immediately. How about... I have Christian come pick you up and take you home. Is that okay?"

Seraphina's hand drifted to the buckle of her seatbelt. She unclipped it, her other hand already gripping the door handle. "Don't bother. I can get home myself."

Without another word, she pushed the door open and stepped out into the night.

Lucian stared at her retreating figure, words catching in his throat.

"I... I'll be back as soon as I can..."

But before he could finish, the heavy thud of the car door slamming shut echoed through the air.

She stepped back, giving him a wide berth.

Lucian's lips pressed into a tight line, but a moment later, the engine roared, and the car sped off into the darkness.
