My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 372

Seraphina's gaze darkened slightly. Feeling Tiffany's intense stare, she replied, "I was with my husband. But when we got near here, he received an urgent call and had to leave abruptly..."

"That is unbelievable!"

Tiffany clenched her jaw, her eyes flashing with furious indignation.

"He promised he'd take care of you! Is this his idea of protection?!"

"He didn't mean for this to happen," Seraphina murmured, still instinctively defending Lucian.

As her friend opened her mouth to argue, Seraphina gave her a pleading look. "It's late. Please just take me home. Little Bean won't settle down if I'm not there."

Tiffany let out an exasperated sigh. "You're too soft on him."

Even after they were safely in the car, Tiffany was still seething.

"Lucian is your husband! How could he just abandon you on a dark highway? Does he even care about you?"

Seraphina moistened her dry lips, a knot of doubt tightening in her chest.

But...

"He loves me. I know he does," she insisted softly. She paused, running a hand through her hair. "Look, I really don't want to talk about it right now. I'm exhausted. Let's just go home."

When they arrived at Lyra Bay, Tiffany glanced toward the living room, which was illuminated only by a single dim lamp.

"He's still not back?"

"I guess not," Seraphina replied, leading the way inside. "Do you want to come in for a cup of tea?"

Tiffany yawned loudly. "Girl, do you know what time it is? If I drink tea now, I'll be staring at the ceiling until dawn."

Despite her complaints, she followed her inside.

Seraphina raised an eyebrow.

Tiffany shot her a defiant smirk. "What are you looking at? Is it a crime to want to make sure my best friend doesn't bleed out in her own hallway?"

"Besides, I want to see my godson. Got a problem with that?"

"Not at all, make yourself at home."

Seraphina grabbed her arm, pulling her deeper into the house.

The moment Susan saw the blood on her wrist, the housekeeper rushed to grab the first-aid kit and began cleaning the wound.

"Thank God it's not too deep," Tiffany said, her voice wavering with renewed emotion as she hovered nearby.

Seraphina patted her friend's hand reassuringly. "Honestly, it looks worse than it feels."
