My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 380

"But I thought my sweet boy was the bravest baby in the world," she teased gently, pinching his chubby cheek. "He's definitely not afraid of a tiny pinch, right?"

The infant went visibly pale but stubbornly puffed his chest out. O-Obviously.

"Then let's get it over with."

Lucian had Christian handle the billing paperwork at the front desk. By the time they reached the lab station, it was their turn in the chair.

Already?! the baby shrieked mentally, grabbing a fistful of Lucian's expensive lapel and refusing to let go.

He glanced down at the trembling infant. "He seems completely terrified. Is this normal?"

Didn't regular babies wait until the needle actually pierced the skin before panicking?

His son was practically sweating bullets before the nurse even opened the alcohol swab.

Seraphina scooped him out of his father's arms, rocking him gently. "Shhh, you're okay. It's just a little poke. It'll feel like a mosquito bite, promise."

She continued to murmur soft reassurances against his temple.

Standing right beside them, Lucian couldn't suppress the fiercely protective smile tugging at his lips.

Between the two of them rattling keys and making silly faces, they managed to keep the baby distracted enough for the tech to strike. The moment the needle went in, Little Bean's face scrunched up into a tomato, fat tears welling instantly in his enormous eyes.

Miraculously, he held it together.

He just stared pitifully at his mother. I am brave. I won't cry.

The lab tech was genuinely floored as she taped the cotton ball down. "Wow, he didn't even shed a tear! What a tough little guy."

Lucian tilted his chin up, practically glowing with paternal pride. "He gets it from me."

Stepping out into the warm afternoon sun, Lucian kept perfect pace with her, carefully holding the baby against his chest. "How about we hit the boutiques? Buy him something nice for being so good."

Seraphina opened her mouth to decline, but the exhausted infant suddenly perked up. Yes! Retail therapy! Let's go blow Daddy's money, Mommy!

Seeing the absolute greed shining in her son's eyes, she caved. "Alright. Just for a bit."

A short drive later, they strolled through the polished marble atrium of the city's most exclusive shopping center.
