"Mr. Langford, I also swear that tonight was purely a work emergency. Sera has absolutely no interest in this sort of thing," Tiffany said, bracing herself.
Lucian looked at Seraphina. "Tell me yourself."
Seraphina sighed helplessly. "I don't like this kind of thing."
Tiffany immediately chimed in, "She likes your type."
Jules was about to laugh when Lucian shot him a warning glare, forcing him to swallow it down.
Her face burning, Seraphina enunciated every word clearly. "Tiffany Taylor."
Tiffany corrected herself. "What I meant is that Sera has high standards. Ordinary male models wouldn't even catch her eye."
Lucian's expression softened. "That's an acceptable answer."
Seraphina pushed his wheelchair. "Let's go. Little Bean is going to wake up soon."
Tiffany hurriedly followed. "I'll walk you out."
Jules trailed behind. "I'll come too."
Lucian looked at him. "You stay here."
"Why?"
Lucian gestured toward the private room. "Help Ms. Taylor clean up this mess."
Jules pointed at himself. "Me? I'm the victim here!"
Tiffany clutched her phone, her eyes gleaming. "You do have a lot of connections and experience, Jules. Why don't you help me brainstorm the new direction?"
Jules eyed her warily. "Don't try to flatter me. I'm not falling for it."
Tiffany instantly dropped her smile. "Never mind, then. I'll find someone else."
That struck a nerve with Jules. "Who else are you going to find? Is there anyone here who understands high-end events better than I do?"
Tiffany looked at Seraphina, suppressing a smile. "See, Sera? He took the bait himself."
Jules realized what had happened. "Tiffany Taylor, did you just play me?"
Covering her mouth, Tiffany walked away, tossing over her shoulder, "Pleasure doing business with you, Jules."
As they reached the back exit, the cool night breeze cleared some of the alcohol from Tiffany's system. "Sera, I'm so sorry about tonight. I shouldn't have rushed you out here."
Seraphina smoothed her friend's messy hair. "I'm just glad I'm the first person you think of when you're in trouble."
