After organizing the files for a while, she felt thirsty and headed to the breakroom for a glass of water.
Before she even walked through the door, she heard the loud chatter inside.
"I heard that new girl was shoved in here directly by Mr. Langford."
"Mr. Langford chased away a top-tier talent like Melody Monroe just for her. I seriously don't understand what he was thinking, trading a brilliant professional for someone with just a basic degree."
"Did you not see the new girl's face? With looks like that, she probably has him completely bewitched."
Seraphina stepped into the room.
The moment they saw her, the gossip died instantly.
Crossing her arms over her chest, Seraphina swept her gaze across the room. "Why did you stop?"
"You seemed to be enjoying yourselves talking behind my back. Don't have the nerve to say it to my face?"
One of the women shot her a defiant glare and muttered under her breath, "You're only acting tough because you have Mr. Langford backing you."
Seraphina walked right over, picked up a full glass of water from the counter, aimed it directly at the woman's head, and tilted her hand—
"Ah!"
The water splashed down over her, leaving her looking like a drenched rat.
She let out a shriek and pointed a shaking finger at Seraphina. "Are you out of your mind?"
Seraphina looked down at her with a chilling gaze. "I'm perfectly sane. Your mouth was filthy, so I washed it for you."
She paused, glancing around at the others. Everyone else was too stunned by her sheer audacity to speak.
"If you have something to say, say it to my face. If it's valid criticism, I'll listen."
She took a breath and added, "But if you spread baseless rumors and slander my name, I'll deal with you myself."
With that, she turned calmly to the coffee machine to pour herself a cup.
The few people standing near the machine immediately stepped back to give her space.
They were genuinely intimidated by her.
