When Noelle glanced at Ruth, the woman still looked visibly annoyed.

Emma tugged gently at Ruth's sleeve and whispered, "Come on, I already set this up for you. Just talk to her properly and offer a real apology."

However, Ruth kept her face cold. "I already apologized at the birthday party. Just ask her what it'll take to drop the charges and settle."

She had not expected Noelle to actually go to the police. Now that Samantha was already out on bail, if anything else happened, it would be a disaster.

Emma sighed, then stepped out of the car and gently pulled Noelle aside. She lowered her voice and said, "Noelle, I heard what happened after the party. I won't deny it—Samantha was in the wrong. That girl's been spoiled rotten by her family and caused more trouble than I can count."

Noelle listened quietly, hearing the softness in Emma's voice. "So you're here to ask me not to press charges?"

"If possible, yes," Emma admitted. "I've known Samantha since she was a baby. I just can't stand by and watch her get into serious legal trouble again."

Emma was even willing to put her pride aside for this. "But of course, if you're unwilling to forgive her, I understand. If you have any conditions, we're willing to listen."

Noelle replied calmly, "Mrs. Greene, I don't have any conditions. Let the legal system handle it.

"And besides, you saw Mrs. Merlock's attitude yourself—that wasn't an apology. That was pure condescension, and I want no part of it." She then turned without hesitation and walked straight toward Maple Enterprise's front doors.

Emma stood by the car, sighing heavily before turning back to Ruth. "I brought you all the way here, and that's the best you could do?"

Ruth snapped, "You saw how Noelle acted! You personally stepped in to speak with her, and she still refused to do you the courtesy. If she won't even respect you, how do you expect her to respect me?"

Her voice trembled as she clung to Emma's arm, her eyes growing red. "You're my best friend. You helped raise Samantha—you even said she was like the daughter you never had. Can you really watch her go to jail?"

Ruth had not come just for a conversation—she was here to emotionally blackmail Emma. She had assumed Noelle would want to get on Emma's good side, especially if she was serious about getting closer to Cedric. What she did not expect was that Noelle would not even blink.

Emma looked torn. "I do love Samantha like a daughter. But you've spoiled her so much that she's completely out of control."

Ruth bit her lip and said through clenched teeth, "She's still young. She'll grow out of it. But right now, we can't just sit back and watch her go to jail.
