Noelle raised her hand and caught Ruth's wrist. Then, she looked up slightly.
Ruth furiously withdrew her hand. Once Noelle let go, Ruth lost her balance and fell straight to the ground.
Noelle expressionlessly said, "Violence is illegal, Mrs. Merlock. Now I understand where Samantha learned it from. Is this a case of the apple not falling far from the tree?"
"How dare you be so disrespectful, Noelle? Your family is the typical case of older kids setting bad examples for younger kids; Donovan shamelessly agreed to a matrilocal marriage. Does he have no shame?"
Ruth had never been so insulted. She hated the way Noelle acted so arrogant!
Noelle smirked slightly. "I have to agree with you; Donovan sure is quite shameless."
As long as they weren't insulting her parents, she didn't care what anyone had to say about the Liddell family.
Ruth glared at Noelle furiously. "Don't think Cedric will always treat you like a treasure. You don't even know he's hiding something from you."
"What is he hiding?" Noelle asked as she studied Ruth's face. The latter carried a smug look as if she'd grasped Noelle's weakness.
Ruth arrogantly smoothed her clothes. "You wanna know? Beg me."
"Ah. I'm not interested anymore, then." With that, Noelle nonchalantly turned to leave.
Ruth shouted in rage, "Noelle, you're lying, aren't you? Cedric has hidden his true identity. He also hid the reason he approached you!"
Noelle tilted her head. "Do you think saying these will drive a wedge between us? Your daughter, Samantha, played the same trick before."
She wouldn't fall for it so easily this time.
Ruth let out a cold laugh. "But judging by your expression, it doesn't seem like you completely trust him either.
"Think about it; why would the son of the Greene family suddenly take a job as a school doctor, stay by your side with a fake identity, and constantly help you? Have you ever thought about that?"
