Cedric ultimately got bored and left.
Someone beside him whispered, "Calvin, haven't you heard that Mr. Greene has a girlfriend he really likes? He even called off his engagement with the Merlock family for her."
"Are you saying that the lady is Mr. Greene's girlfriend?"
"Most likely. Didn't you see how Mr. Greene stepped in to defend her? Not everyone chases skirts the moment they see a pretty face like you do."
Calvin broke out in a cold sweat all over. This was bad. He'd planned to partner with Cedric, and now everything was ruined.
…
Noelle furiously stormed out. If the circumstances had been different just now, she might have punched Calvin square in the face.
"Noelle, are you okay?" Scott approached and handed her a bottle of water. "Quite a few people witnessed what happened earlier. If you want to report them for harassment, we can all testify for you."
Noelle shook her head. "No need. I'll handle this myself."
Cedric approached. Completely ignoring Scott, he walked straight up to Noelle and gently said, "Still mad? I taught him a lesson for you."
Scott mustered his courage to step forward. "You were also part of the harassment earlier, sir. Please keep your distance, or we'll call the police."
Cedric shot Scott with an intense and oppressive glance. As a student, Scott had never dealt with someone seasoned in the business world. He was completely overwhelmed by Cedric's presence.
Then, Cedric turned back to Noelle. "Did I harass you? Did I touch you anywhere inappropriate?"
Noelle quickly grabbed his arm as her face flushed with heat. "Shut up. Stop talking."
Cedric could easily pull away, but he obediently stood beside her instead. Plus, he shot Scott a smug look on purpose. Scott saw the exchange and guessed that Noelle must have an extraordinary relationship with Cedric.
"How about tonight? I know you're done with classes."
Noelle made up an excuse. "I have training at the base tonight."
"I'll take you back right after dinner. It won't take up anything." Cedric stared at her stubbornly.
Then, he softened his tone and continued, "We haven't seen each other in a while. It's just a meal, and it's not like I'm going to eat you up. Plus, I have clues about the Merlock family."
Noelle's head snapped up. "What have you found?"
He muttered, "This isn't the place to talk."
She sharply spotted Xenia and Donovan arriving. What were they doing here?
