Chapter 177 We Should Leave

Ethan’s frown deepened, and for a moment, he couldn’t find any argument to refute it.

Right then, Miles rushed in from outside, looking troubled.

“Mr. Rowe…” He approached Ethan and spoke carefully, “Security said that yesterday’s surveillance footage from the living room and the staircase–from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.—was deleted. There’s nothing left.”

“Did you

do it?” Ethan almost growled the question, “Did you delete the footage on purpose to get rid of the evidence?”

“It wasn’t me!” Hannah shook her head frantically, tears streaming down even harder, “Ethan, how could you say that about me? I was feeling so sick last night, I barely got out of bed, let alone had the strength to sneak to the security room and destroy anything.”

Suddenly, she turned around, as if she had made up her mind. She yanked the still–crying Isla over, her reddened eyes full of grief and humiliation.

“Fine… Ethan, if you suspect that we are the culprits, if there’s no place for us here at Rowe Villa anymore, we’ll leave at once!

“Ethan, no matter how much we try to explain, you’re never going to believe us! We have no power or status, and staying here only makes things harder for you! We’ll go right now and never cause you or Ms. Harlow any more trouble!”

With that, she dragged Isla toward the door.

“Mom, I don’t want to go! I don’t want to leave Ethan!” Isla was having none of it. She struggled as hard as she could and broke free of Hannah’s grip. Then, she darted back, clinging tightly to Ethan’s ankle, sobbing at the top of her lungs.

The scene turned into utter chaos in an instant.

In the middle of all that struggling and pulling, Hannah suddenly staggered.

“Ethan…” she called out his name weakly, and then her body went limp and she collapsed backward.

“Mom!” Isla shrieked in terror.

Ethan’s mind went blank, and by instinct, he lunged forward and caught her soft, limp body in

his arms.

“Quick! Call the family doctor! Now!” Ethan shouted at Miles, who stood there frozen with

“We … we should leave…” she whispered as she weakly pushed Ethan’s hand away, tears rolling down her face in silence. “Ethan, don’t worry about us, just let us go. I can’t drag you down anymore. I can’t let you get into trouble with the Everetts because of us.”

She started coughing hard as she spoke, looking like she could faint again at any second.

“Don’t worry,” she panted, “If Mr. Everett really wants revenge, let him come after me alone. I’ll take everything myself. I will never get the Rowes and you guys involved, not even a little.”

Ethan pressed her back onto the bed with a firm grip on her shoulder, his voice hoarse. “Stop overthinking. Just focus on getting better. Leave the rest to me.”

He took a deep breath, and his eyes grew determined again.

“If Mason can’t find any evidence and still insists on blaming you, that’s on him.”

Ethan’s voice turned low, tinged with a touch of wounded pride. “The Rowes are not some pushover for people to mess with! I won’t let him hurt you.”

Hearing his promise, Hannah knew she’d won this round.

Her heart finally settled, though she still looked worried as she asked, “But… will this mess up your partnership with the Everett Group? I heard that project is really important to you…”

Ethan shook his head and reassured her, “No. The first payment for the project already came in this afternoon.”

Hannah finally let out a sigh of relief, her tense body loosening.

Her red, tear–filled eyes searched his face, and she finally asked the one question that mattered
