Chapter 211 What’s Going on Between You Two?
Mason paused, softened his steps, and walked to the edge of the tent.
The girl was curled up on her side on the blanket.
Maybe she felt a little cold–she unconsciously hugged her arms tighter around herself.
Mason watched her quietly for a few seconds.
Without a word, he took off his jacket and draped it over her with gentle care.
Amelia didn’t sleep for very long.

When she slowly woke up, the first thing she sensed wasn’t the weight on her body–but a masculine presence that felt both familiar and strangely unfamiliar.
She opened her eyes abruptly, and sure enough, Mason’s jacket was covering her.
The jacket still seemed to hold his body heat, mixed with his distinctive scent, wrapping around her like a cocoon.
It felt as if … she were being held in his arms.
Amelia’s heart started hammering out of control.
She fumbled to pull the jacket away, but the moment her fingertips touched the still–warm fabric, she hesitated..
Just as her thoughts tangled into chaos, her phone began to buzz.
It was a call from Lily.
Amelia answered immediately, trying to use her friend’s voice to chase away the intimate atmosphere filling the space.
“Amelia! I’m back from my work trip–how are you doing? I’m coming to see you!”
Amelia steadied herself and said softly, “I’m … at Mason’s estate.”
“What?” Lily’s voice shot up an octave. “Amelia, so you’ve been hiding a man in luxury without a word? Hurry–send me the address. I’m coming right now!”
“Stop talking nonsense,” Amelia said, mortified. “I’ll send you the address.”
Before hanging up, Amelia hesitated.

Even though Mason said she could stay here, should she check with him before bringing a friend over?
She leaned out of the tent with her phone in hand.
Mason was sitting under a sun umbrella not far away, sipping coffee. He lifted his eyes and looked over.
Amelia spoke a little awkwardly. “Um… my friend Lily just got back from a work trip. She wants to come check on me. Is that okay?”
Mason’s hand holding the coffee paused slightly. Seeing the cautious, searching look on her face, his gaze darkened.
Then, he said evenly, “If it’s someone you want to see, you won’t need to report it to me in the future.”
Amelia nodded, murmured, “Okay,” then lowered her head and sent Lily the address.
Not long after, a bright red sports car drove into the estate.
Lily hopped out in a whirlwind, and at first glance, she was stunned by the estate–like something straight out of a medieval castle.
“Oh my God, Amelia–you’re in a real billionaire situation now!” Lily exclaimed dramatically as she hurried over. Then, she crouched down at once, staring at Amelia’s leg with concern. “Seriously though–how is it? How long until you’re better?”
“The doctor said the cast can come off in a couple of days. After that, if I do rehab properly, it shouldn’t take too long,” Amelia said with a reassuring smile.
Just then, Miles announced that it was time to eat.
Mason naturally walked toward Amelia. It looked like he intended to carry her over the way had before.
But before he could get close, Amelia spoke first, turning to Lily. “Lily, can you bring my wheelchair over?”
Amelia didn’t give him a chance to react. With Lily’s help, she stood up on one leg and sat down in the wheelchair herself–perfectly avoiding any touch from Mason the entire time.
Lily was sharp as a tack, and she immediately sensed something off from that small move alone.

Between the two of them, there seemed to be… a faint, polite distance.
During the meal, the atmosphere grew even more delicate.

After eating a bit, Lily stood up and said to Amelia with a bright smile, “Amelia, are you full?

As she spoke, she went straight behind the wheelchair and pushed Amelia away from the lawn.
They moved slowly along the garden path, and only after she was sure they’d left Mason’s line of sight did the smile fade from Lily’s face.
She stopped, walked around to face Amelia, crossed her arms, and asked bluntly, “Alright. What exactly happened between you and Mason Everett?
“Don’t play dumb. I can tell you were … deliberately keeping your distance from him just now.”
Her friend’s sharp question split open the calm mask Amelia had carefully put on, leaving her with nowhere to hide.
Amelia’s fingers curled unconsciously, gripping the wheelchair armrest tightly.
After a long moment, it was as if she finally made up
her mind.
“Actually … it’s nothing,” she murmured, avoiding Lily’s gaze as her eyes landed on a cluster of champagne roses blooming beside the path. “It’s just that lately… some things happened…”
She briefly told Lily how, after she got injured, Mason brought her back to the estate, took care of her with meticulous attention, and stood up for her at the hospital.
