Chapter 261 Starlight Charity Gala

Standing beside Amelia, Amanda was seeing the legendary boss behind the scenes for the first time, this close.
She froze.
Before, she only knew that he was young, capable, and ruthless in business.
But now that he was standing right in front of her, she finally understood what real pressure felt like.
He didn’t need to say or do anything. One calm glance was enough. The quiet authority of someone long used to being on top made her hold her breath without even realizing it.
Amanda clutched the hem of her dress, too nervous to say a word, doing her best to fade into the background.
It wasn’t until Tim politely opened the car door that she snapped back to herself. She carefully helped Amelia into the soft back seat of the Rolls–Royce.
When the door closed, her heart, which had been pounding in her throat, finally slowed a little.
The car pulled away smoothly from the estate.
Amanda stole a glance at Tim through the rearview mirror as he focused on driving. Only then did she dare lean close to Amelia and whisper, “Amelia … was that the legendary Mr. Everett just now?”
Seeing how shaken she looked, Amelia couldn’t help smiling. She raised an eyebrow on purpose. “Legendary? What, did you guys turn him into some kind of myth?”
“Oh, totally!” The moment the topic came up, Amanda’s nerves vanished, replaced by pure gossip–fueled excitement.
“You have no idea how curious everyone at the company is about him!
“All we ever hear is his name. Everyone knows Stardale has a powerful boss behind the scenes, but no one’s actually seen him. People kept guessing what he looked like–some greasy middle- aged guy with a receding hairline or a big–bellied business tycoon. And then today–boom. Total shock. He’s just … way too intense!”
Hearing their whispers, Tim glanced at them in the mirror and suddenly jumped in with a grin. “Amanda, from the way you’re talking, are you saying the staff doesn’t find me handsome enough? Is that why everyone’s so curious about the boss behind the scenes?”

She waved her hands quickly and let out an awkward laugh. “Mr. Clem, please don’t make me say it out loud. Of course you’re handsome! It’s just… you two aren’t the same type!”
Tim chuckled, clearly amused, and didn’t push her further. Instead, he laughed at himself. “Fair enough. After all, my main role tonight is being your personal driver and full–time bodyguard.”
Amelia listened to their back–and–forth with a smile. When the teasing finally died down, she turned to Amanda and asked gently, “By the way, how have things been at the company lately? Are the new coworkers easy to get along with? Are you settling into the work?”
It was something she had been meaning to ask for a while.
Amanda had followed Amelia out of the studio, always worried she might be upset or troubled.
“Everything’s great, Amelia, don’t worry!” Amanda straightened in her seat, speaking seriously. “Everyone at the company is young; there’s none of that messy old–school office culture, and the vibe is really nice. The coworkers are all super friendly. When they heard you hurt your leg, a few even said they wanted to come check on you together.
“But Mr. Clem stopped them and said it wasn’t necessary. You’re being well taken care of, and they shouldn’t bother you while you recover.”
As she said this, Amanda’s gaze drifted back to Amelia, filled with genuine admiration. “At first, I wasn’t sure if Mr. Clem was just being polite … but now it really seems like he meant it!”
The night wrapped the city in a soft, gentle glow.
The Riverside Arts Center, where the Starlight Charity Gala was being held, sparkled with lights.
On the way there, Amelia and her group weren’t the only arrivals.
Ethan had arrived with Hannah.
Camera flashes erupted like daylight, and the clicks of shutters never stopped.
The attention of both media and guests immediately focused on the pair.
Whispers began to ripple through the crowd of stylishly dressed attendees.
“It’s Mr. Rowe… Isn’t that the woman who was in the news with him last time?”
“Looks like the rumors are true. This is already the second time he’s brought her out in public, right? What about his official wife? Seems like he’s never brought her to an event like this.”

“I heard his wife’s just an ordinary person, no background, probably can’t appear on these stages. But look at Ms. Gray–what an aura she has.”
The murmurs were soft, but like invisible needles, they pricked at Hannah’s ears, stirring a subtle mix of vanity and satisfaction in her heart.
Instinctively, she straightened her back, linked her arm through Ethan’s, and smiled gracefully and warmly–clearly showing she was his date for the event.
Yet Ethan seemed completely uninterested in the attention or the heat beside him.
A familiar business partner approached, holding a glass of champagne, greeting warmly, “It’s been a while, Mr. Rowe.”
