Chapter 314 Keep Your Distance
Turned down so directly, the man’s smile froze for a second.

He gave an awkward shrug. “Alright then. Sorry to bother you,” he said, before turning and heading back to his table.
A moment later, a few laughs drifted over from that direction.
“Tsk, tsk,” Lily leaned in as soon as he was gone, nudging Amelia with her elbow and wiggling her brows. “Not bad, Amelia. Strong principles. You’re really putting Mason’s mind at ease. Even traveling, you’re cutting off all possible flirt drama.”
Amelia felt a little helpless under the teasing and replied calmly, “What about you? Did you want to go? A bunch of total strangers.”
“Of course not!” Lily shook her head right away, lips curling. “That’s way too risky. What if they’re bad guys? The two of us would be done for. I like having fun, but I’m not that careless.”
Amelia smiled and said nothing, lowering her gaze to the lemon slices drifting in her glass.
When she turned the man down, a vague thought had crossed her mind. If Mason knew about it, how would he react?
Lately, she seemed more and more used to thinking about him before making decisions.
At the same time, at a bar back in Eldoria-
Tim stared dramatically at the calm man across from him. “Mr. Everett, this is a miracle. Ms. Harlow’s only been gone a few days, and you finally came out for a drink with me?”
Mason held his glass and glanced at him coolly. “Too much going on at home. I didn’t have a choice. She’s away, and Hayden’s still there.
“His dad will be back soon. The kid’s been counting the days. I have to keep an eye on him. I can only stay for a bit.”
“Fine. You’ve got your reasons,” Tim sighed, lifting his glass toward him before draining it in one go. His face was full of misery. “So in the end, I’m the only single one left. No one is waiting for me. No one to care.”
Mason raised an eyebrow and went straight to the point. “What, did Lily dump you?”
Tim froze. His eyes darted away as he shot back, “Dump me? What do you mean, dump me? We… we were never officially together, okay!”
His voice lacked confidence and faded near the end.
“It’s just…” He ran a hand through his hair in frustration. “Ever since she got back from that work trip, she barely looks for me. Slow replies, always busy on calls. I ask her out, and she turns me down eight times out
of ten.”
He glanced down at himself, even patting his firm stomach through his shirt, muttering in confusion, “This makes no sense… I’ve been hitting the gym like crazy. Clear abs and everything. How can she not want me?

Chapter 314 Keep Your Distance
What do women even like these days?”
Mason couldn’t bear to look.
He lifted a hand to call the server, his voice cool and flat. “Another whiskey, please.”
The drink arrived moments later.
Just then, Mason noticed that Tim was staring at his phone, scrolling through Lily’s latest post.

Mason knew that if Lily posted something, Amelia was probably with her. Without saying a word, he shifted his gaze toward the screen.
The location tag showed a bar in Lingchers’s old town. The caption read, “Cheers to freedom!”
But what Tim tapped into wasn’t just a photo.
It was a live clip. The moment the video played, a man’s voice hitting on Amelia came through the speaker as well.
The relaxed look on Mason’s face vanished in an instant.
Tim lifted his eyes carefully to look at him.
Mr. Everett looks very unhappy. His face has gone dark.
He stared at the phone screen without expression. The calm in his eyes was gone, replaced by a sharp, icy glare. The pressure around them dropped so fast it felt like the air in the booth had frozen.
Tim cleared his throat and spoke carefully. “Uh, Mr. Everett, things at Stardale Group have been running pretty smoothly lately. There’s not that much going on. So I was wondering… could I take a long vacation too?”
His meaning was obvious.
He was worried Lily might meet someone while traveling. And he wanted to follow her and get answers.
Mason answered with a cold snort.
His eyes landed on Tim’s hopeful face. His lips parted slightly. “Nice try.”
One sentence shut Tim up completely. But it did nothing to cool the anger rising in Mason’s chest.
He lifted his whiskey and drank it in one go.
He pressed his lips together, his expression darkening. His long fingers hovered over his phone screen for a long time.
Someone as proud as him would normally never do something this childish. He hated checking up on people.
But logic and emotion crashed hard, and his possessive side won out.
He sent Amelia a message, “While you’re out, keep your distance from other men.”

In Lingchers, Amelia froze when she saw the message pop up. It made no sense to her.
After thinking for a moment, she sent back a single question mark.
Five seconds later, Mason’s call came through.
