Chapter 352 Life Was Strange
The certificates flashed into Amelia’s view, bright under the snow and the car headlights.
Marriage certificates!
Amelia’s eyes went wide. Her mind went completely blank.

She looked at the documents. Then she looked at Lily, who was standing there, rubbing her cheek in an awkward way.
“What?!”
Amelia rushed over, grabbed Lily’s arm, and shook it hard. Her voice was full of disbelief. “Lily?! We were apart for three hours. Three hours! And you went and got married?!”
Lily was shaken back and forth. Her face turned red, which was rare for her. She gave a dry laugh. “Oh, yeah! We just acted on impulse.”
“Impulse?!” Amelia almost laughed from shock. “Who gets married on impulso like that?!”
Tim stood nearby, looking proud. He put an arm around Lily’s shoulders, line ne was claiming her. “This is true love and perfect timing,” he said. “We didn’t want to miss it. The city hall by the lake was about to close. So we went first and told you later!”
Then he noticed Mason’s unhappy face and quickly patted his chest. “Today is my big day! Dinner is on me. Eat whatever you want. Steak, seafood, anything. This is my apology!”
Mason’s expression finally softened a little.
He looked away from Tim’s smug face and glanced at the certificates. A trace of resentment flashed in his eyes, so quickly no one noticed.
Mason gave Tim a cool look and said slowly, “Because of the stunt you pulled today, you’re not getting a wedding gift from me.”
Tim waved it off. “No problem! Just show up. That’s enough.”
“We weren’t planning a ceremony anyway,” Lily added. She looked at Amelia, clearly hoping for approval.
Amelia looked at her friend. Lily’s happiness was impossible to hide. The shock faded. So did the small bit of anger she had felt for being left out.
Amelia hugged Lily tightly and whispered in her ear, “Congratulations. I sincerely hope you’ll be happy.”

But as she hugged her, a thought rose up on its own.
If the place were right, she really wanted to take out her divorce certificates and place them next to Lily’s marriage certificate, just to take a photo.
One marked an ending. The other marked a beginning.
Life was strange like that.
Laughing and talking, they all got into the car. The heater kicked on, and warmth filled the space, pushing away the cold.
Tim, now a newly married man, was clearly too excited. He stepped on the gas and drove them to a nearby town.
After
many turns, the car stopped in front of a place that looked grand and bright. It claimed to be the most luxurious restaurant in the area.
The smell of food drifted out the moment they stepped inside. Only ther how hungry she was.
Amelia realize
She had climbed a mountain, stood in the cold, and gone through a huge emotional swing. Her energy was gone.
Amelia didn’t bother being polite with Tim. She took the menu and went straight for the most expensive seafood and house specials. She was putting one rule into practice–eat your feelings.
After all, tonight, she was definitely going to make Tim pay.
By the end of the meal, it had completely turned into Tim’s one–man show.
The newly married man was clearly riding a high. With alcohol pushing him along, all the feelings he usually kept hidden burst out as bold promises and loud speeches.
He didn’t care that other people were still at the table. His face was bright red, and with one arm, he was tightly hugging the leg of an innocent redwood chair.
“Lily…” he slurred, shouting so loudly his voice echoed around the private room. “Don’t worry. For the rest of my life, I’ll treat you right! No one is allowed to bully you!”
Lily, sitting across from him, was barely holding it together. Her face was stiff with embarrassment.
She shot Tim a fierce glare, the look of pure disgust almost spilling out of her eyes.
Amelia couldn’t help laughing. She gently nudged Mason with her elbow..

Mason was calmly wiping his hands with a warm towel. He lifted his eyes and glanced at the man drunkenly clinging to the chair leg. Open disdain showed in his gaze, but the faint curve at the corner of his lips gave away his amusement.
Finally, Lily had had enough. “Shut up,” she hissed through clenched teeth.
She stood up, walked over to Tim, and snatched the bottle from his hand. Then she turned to Amelia and said, “Amelia, come with me for a minute. I need to buy him something to sober up. If he keeps drinking, none of us are getting home tonight.”
Amelia had been wondering how to escape the awkward scene anyway. She nodded at once. “Sure.”
As she stood up, she instinctively looked at Mason.
He gave her a small nod. “Go. I’ll keep an eye on him.”
With that, Amelia followed Lily out of the restaurant.
