Chapter 412 Unexpected
Amelia’s teasing made Amanda laugh.
“But…” Amelia shifted her tone, glancing at the gloomy sky outside the window with a small smile. “So everyone can enjoy this meaningful night, I’ll do my best to make sure you all get off work on time this afternoon.”
“Really?!” Amanda’s eyes widened in delight. “That’s amazing! You’re a lifesaver!”
She cheered and immediately rushed out to share the good news with the rest of the team.
Amelia shook her head with a smile, her gaze drifting back to the sky outside.
This year’s snow did seem to carry unusual meaning for her.
Her life felt as though it had been stitched together by snowfall after snowfall, shaping everything into what it was now.
Her thoughts drifted back to a few months earlier, another winter in Eldoria, the night of the heaviest snow she could remember.
She had been on her way to David’s birthday banquet when Ethan had coldly abandoned her on the roadside, and she had been hit by a car.
Just when she thought she would freeze to death in that desperate, snow–filled night, Mason had appeared and saved her.
That had been their first true reunion in six years.
Later, when she finally made the decision to cut herself free from her disastrous past with Ethan, Eldoria had snowed again..
That was when she and Mason acknowledged their feelings and came together.
One snowfall had been salvation. Another had been a beginning.
So did tonight’s so–called final snow mean that her life, once thrown so completely off course, would finally return to the right path and welcome a warm spring?
A quiet sense of emotion settled in Amelia’s heart.
Unfortunately…
Mason was not in Eldoria, so it was unlikely they would be able to watch it together.
A flicker of disappointment passed through her, but reason quickly pushed it down.
After all, Evan’s health mattered most.
With that thought, she tucked the feeling quietly away.

That afternoon, Amelia kept her promise and let everyone in the department leave work on time to chase their own romantic plans.
Back at the estate, after eating the dinner Miles had prepared, her desire to mark the occasion only grew
stronger.
On impulse, Amelia found herself wandering down to the wine cellar on the lower level.
It was Mason’s private domain. Inside the temperature- and humidity–controlled space, rows of oak racks held carefully stored bottles from around the world.
Like a thief about to do something naughty, she tiptoed around before secretly taking a bottle of red wine that looked like it had some age on it.
Back in the bedroom, she found two wine glasses and placed them side by side on the carpet in front of the floor–to–ceiling window. She opened the bottle and poured a small amount into each glass, letting it breathe.
Once everything was ready, she hugged her knees and sat on the carpet, quietly watching the view outside.
The night grew deeper. City lights flickered in the distance, but the sky remained heavy and dark, full of promise yet unwilling to release a single snowflake.
Time passed slowly.
Amelia took out her phone and refreshed Instagram.
As expected, it was full of complaints.
[Where’s the snow you promised? I did my makeup for this. @EldoriaWeather, explain yourself.]
[Biggest scam of the year. My romantic dinner turned into pure waiting.]
[Hey weather forecast, are you asleep? Because I can’t be.]
Reading the collective frustration made Amelia laugh. At the same time, whatever sense of ceremony she had left dissolved completely in the shared complaining.
She glanced at the barely touched glass of red wine on the table, shook her head helplessly, and stood up. to put it away.
After washing up, Amelia slipped under the covers.
Maybe the day’s work had worn her out. She fell asleep quickly.
The night grew even deeper.
Half asleep, Amelia vaguely felt a familiar warmth press close against her side.
She sighed softly in her sleep, her mind not fully awake,
