Chapter 413 A New Arrangement
Countless question marks exploded in Amelia’s mind, leaving her completely blank. Just as she was too stunned to speak, the familiar eyes in front of her slowly opened.
In the soft morning light, Mason deep gaze still carried the lazy haze of sleep as it settled on her.
Then his lips curved slightly. “Morning, Amelia.”
Her eyes widened.
The next second, without thinking, she buried herself fully in Mason’s warm, solid embrace. Her cheek pressed tightly against his chest as she greedily breathed in the scent that made her feel completely safe.
…
“How did you
suddenly come back?” she asked, rubbing against him like a kitten that had found shelter. “Weren’t you staying in the outskirts with Evan?”
Mason felt the excitement in her movements. The fatigue from driving through the night vanished instantly.
He let out a quiet breath and wrapped his arms around her even tighter. “Yeah. I thought it was going to snow last night.”
Amelia stayed curled in his arms for quite a while.
Until the clock on the nightstand caught the corner of her eye and she suddenly realized the time.
“I’m going to be late,” she muttered reluctantly as she struggled to sit up, though her hands still unconsciously clutched the hem of his sleep shirt.
“I’ll drive you,” Mason said, sitting up as well. His long fingers naturally brushed the loose strands of hair away from her face.
“What about you? Are you going back to Evan later?” Amelia looked up at him.
“Not sure,” Mason replied, his eyes reflecting her image. “Some things have piled up at the company. I need to go in and handle them.”
They got up and washed up together without needing to say much.
In front of the wide bathroom counter, they stood side by side.
Amelia squeezed toothpaste onto her brush while watching his tall figure in the mirror. He lowered his head slightly as he shaved the faint stubble along his jaw.
It was such an ordinary, lived–in kind of morning that she felt as if they had been sharing a life like this for a very long time.
Without Nora and Evan around, there was none of that careful restraint they usually maintained. They felt noticeably more relaxed with each other,

When they went downstairs for breakfast, Miles noticed them walking side by side. A trace of amusement flickered in his eyes, but he said nothing and simply brought out two prepared breakfasts.
After eating, Mason drove Amelia to the office.
She turned her head to look out the window. The sky was still gloomy, showing no sign of snow.
She remembered the complaints flooding Instagram the night before and Mason’s slightly regretful tone that morning.
A thought suddenly crossed her mind. Had he seen all the social media hype about the last snowfall, just like those young couples in love, and driven back overnight because of it?
The idea made her eyes flicker, something light and feathery brushing across her heart.
She was just about to test the waters and ask him when Mason spoke first.
“Amelia. What if … we stayed somewhere else for a while?”
She stared at him, thinking she had misheard.
“Stayed somewhere else?” she repeated, her mind scrambling. “You mean … live together?”
The words came out of her mouth with stunned disbelief.
But almost immediately she realized how funny that sounded.
Blushing, she added awkwardly, “No … I mean, aren’t we technically already living together?”
Even though there were other people at the estate, technically, they were living under the same roof.
Mason’s lips tilted slightly. “It’s not the same.”
He turned the steering wheel as the car smoothly rounded a corner. “At the estate, you never want to make our relationship clear in front of my mom and Evan. We have to pick the right moment just to see each other. Even holding hands feels like something we have to hide. It always feels like we’re sneaking around. So I was thinking we could stay somewhere in the city for a while. I own a few apartments near your office. You could tell people you’re staying there for convenience and only go back to the estate on weekends. My mom wouldn’t think much of it. And as for me… they wouldn’t question where I stayed at night.”
Amelia carefully processed every word he said, her heartbeat picking up.
The more she listened, the more it sounded like a carefully planned elopement.
The thought alone made her cheeks burn.
There was something secret and thrilling about it.
It felt bolder and more intimate than quietly stealing moments together at the estate.
But she had always been reserved. Such a direct invitation left her unable to respond right away
This was not just about moving out. It meant another major shift in their relationship.
