Countless question marks exploded in Amelia’s mind, leaving her completely blank. Just as she was too stunned to speak, the familiar eyes in front of her slowly opened.

In the soft morning light, Mason deep gaze still carried the lazy haze of sleep as it settled on her.

Mason felt the excitement in her movements. The fatigue from driving through the night vanished instantly.

He let out a quiet breath and wrapped his arms around her even tighter. “Yeah. I thought it was going to snow last night.”

Amelia stayed curled in his arms for quite a while.

Until the clock on the nightstand caught the corner of her eye and she suddenly realized the time.

“I’m going to be late,” she muttered reluctantly as she struggled to sit up, though her hands still unconsciously clutched the hem of his sleep shirt.

“I’ll drive you,” Mason said, sitting up as well. His long fingers naturally brushed the loose strands of hair away from her face.

“What about you? Are you going back to Evan later?” Amelia looked up at him.

“Not sure,” Mason replied, his eyes reflecting her image. “Some things have piled up at the company. I need to go in and handle them.”

They got up and washed up together without needing to say much.

In front of the wide bathroom counter, they stood side by side.

Amelia squeezed toothpaste onto her brush while watching his tall figure in the mirror. He lowered his head slightly as he shaved the faint stubble along his jaw.

It was such an ordinary, lived–in kind of morning that she felt as if they had been sharing a life like this for a very long time.

After eating, Mason drove Amelia to the office.

She remembered the complaints flooding Instagram the night before and Mason’s slightly regretful tone that morning.

A thought suddenly crossed her mind. Had he seen all the social media hype about the last snowfall, just like those young couples in love, and driven back overnight because of it?

“Amelia. What if … we stayed somewhere else for a while?”

But almost immediately she realized how funny that sounded.
