Chapter 461 I’m Not Cold

She continued, “If my grandpa treated him himself, with his skill, Evan wouldn’t suffer so much every time. But he always ends up comforting me instead, saying it’s fine and that he can handle it.
“In the end, it’s just that I’m still not skilled enough.”
Seeing the faint blush on Kaia’s profile, Amelia said gently, “You’re already amazing. Traditional medicine is deep and complex, especially needle treatment. It takes years of hard work to master it. You’re so young and already able to carry on your grandfather’s legacy by yourself. That’s really impressive.”
She meant every word.
Amelia could clearly feel that Kaia’s concern for Evan had long gone beyond a simple doctor–patient bond.
Maybe touched by Amelia’s sincerity, Kaia finally relaxed. A faint smile appeared as she spoke, almost to herself, “Actually… I never planned to choose this path. After my last relationship fell apart, I decided to stay hidden with my grandpa, learn from him, and calm my heart.”
Amelia felt curious, but she knew it would be rude to dig into someone’s past.
So she listened without asking anything more.
That comfortable silence between them only drew them closer.
Soon, the sound of flowing water reached them, and the view opened up.
They had arrived at the riverbank.
The winter river flowed gently, its surface shining under the sunlight.
Among the dry grass along the shore, a few unknown wildflowers were somehow blooming brightly.
Nora was holding Hayden’s small hand, bending down to teach him how to recognize the flowers.
Not far away, Mason was pushing Evan’s wheelchair. The two brothers stood side by side, looking out at the water, clearly talking about something serious.
Evan still looked pale, but there was a calm on his face that hadn’t been there in a long time.
Beside him, Mason stood tall and steady like a pine tree. Even from far away, Amelia could feel the quier strength around him.

As soon as their gazes met, last night’s shameless moments rushed back into Amelia’s mind.
Even from so far away, she could almost feel the heat in his eyes, and that teasing smile meant only for

Almost instinctively, Amelia lowered her head, unable to face his stare.
She nervously rubbed her toes against the ground, embarrassment written all over her.
Walking behind Kaia with her head down, Amelia could only see the dirt path beneath her feet and the yellowed grass on either side.
She tried to act calm, but her racing heart betrayed her.
The closer they got, the heavier that unseen pressure felt.
By now, Amelia could clearly sense that Mason’s eyes had never left her.
Finally, they reached the riverbank.
Kaia’s arrival naturally ended the brothers‘ conversation.
She walked up to Evan’s wheelchair and unfolded the thick jacket she’d brought, gently trying to place it over him.
“Evan, it’s windy here. Put this on.”
Evan lifted his head, a warm smile spreading across his pale face.
He didn’t take it. Instead, he lightly stopped her hands.
