Chapter 582 Bloodily Wounds
The past Amelia had tried so hard to forget was ripped open again, laid bare, and trampled on.
“Enough!”
Mason cut Wilda off, his anger barely held back.
“It’s a holiday season. If you came all the way here just to meddle in my relationship, I’ll have someone drive you back right now.”
For a moment, Wilda froze in disbelief. Then her face twisted with rage.
“You… you ungrateful boy!” she snapped, her body shaking as she pointed at him. “How dare you talk back to your grandmother? Have you forgotten who handed the company to you? I’m the reason why you have what you have today!”
It sounded reasonable on the surface, but it was full of forced logic.
Mason didn’t react. His face stayed cold, with a faint hint of mockery.
He looked at Wilda, his eyes sharp. “If you regret it,” he said, “you can always find someone else.”
His words were short, but they struck the one thing she didn’t want to face.
Back when Mason took over the Everett Group, the company was close to falling apart. The family was full of conflict, and the business world outside was ruthless. Problems came at him from every direction.
If Wilda had been able to handle things on her own–or if she had a more capable grandson she actually favored–she would never have handed control to the one she disliked the most.
At that time, her favorite grandson was Pedro. The one she trusted most as a successor was Evan, once known as a business genius.
And Mason?
From a young age, Mason never followed her wishes. He was stubborn, rebellious, and always did things his own way. As the head of the family, Wilda often felt both frustrated and powerless because of him.
And yet, it was this very grandson–the one she saw as a troublemaker–who turned everything around on his own. He rebuilt the Everett Group from the ground up. He didn’t just save it, he pushed it to heigh even greater than before.
That success filled her with pride. However, it also intensified her desire to control him, yet Mason continued to slip further out of her grasp.
Mason’s blunt words left her speechless. Her chest rose and fell sharply, and her face flushed red.
“You… you brat…” she stammered. In the end, all her anger turned into a sharp scolding. “You have no respect for your elders!”

dark and sinister.
“This is all your fault!” Wilda shouted. “You’re nothing but bad luck–every family you join ends chaos! The Rowes threw you out, and now you’ve come to ruin us too!”

It was Christmas–a time meant for warmth and family–but Amelia ended up taking harsh and cruel insults.
Her body trembled slightly. She had tried to hold it in.
But Wilda had gone too far.
Amelia took a deep breath and stepped out from behind Mason, walking straight up to Wilda.
Her face was pale, but her eyes were steady.
“Wilda,” she said calmly, “I respect you as Mason’s grandmother and as an elder.
“But that doesn’t give you the right to speak to me like this.”
No one in the family had ever talked back to Wilda. Everyone was stunned.
Amelia ignored their looks and continued, “Mason and I are together because we chose each other. He’s an adult. He has his own judgment. He makes his own decisions.”
Her voice was firm and clear. Wilda’s chest heaved harder, like she could barely breathe. Just as the tension reached its peak, Phoebe stepped in.
She stepped forward and gently took Wilda’s arm. Her voice was soft but carried a quiet hint of reproach. “Ms. Harlow, when elders say a few things, it’s best to let it pass. Wilda is older, after all. And it’s Christmas -what if all this upsets her health?”
As the standoff dragged on, Evan slowly rolled his wheelchair forward and stopped between them.
“That’s enough,” he said. “Everyone, calm down.”
He glanced at his pale–faced grandmother, then looked at Mason. “Take Amelia back to the city. Drive safe.”
