Ethan’s gaze was as cold as ice. Looking at this woman who had become completely unrecognizable to him, he spoke each word like a verdict. “Your heart is rotten. And if Lenny really can’t tell right from wrong, if he lets you keep acting like this and even backs you up, then he’s nothing special either.”

Hannah was shaking with anger. The carefully drawn eyeliner around her eyes made her expression look even more twisted.

Faced with her blatant threat, Ethan showed none of the panic she expected.

“Hannah, have you been reading too many of those over–the–top CEO romance novels?” he let out a cold laugh, his tone dripping with disdain. “The Rowes might not have the same legacy as an old powerhouse like the Jewells, but we’ve built our business here for years. We’re a publicly traded company with a solid foundation. If a few jealous, spiteful words from you were enough to bring us down, then I must have been a useless CEO all these years. And there’s something else…”

Ethan stepped forward and lowered his voice. “You know better than anyone whether you’re really Lenny’s biological daughter. If I wanted to dig into that, I might very well find something. So do you really think I came here to bow my head to you?”

A flash of fear crossed Hannah’s eyes, and she instinctively took a few steps back.

“W… what do you mean?” Her voice trembled as all her earlier confidence gone.

Ethan calmly took his phone out of his suit pocket.

The screen lit up, showing a recording interface with the waveform moving.

He gave the phone a slight shake, his tone steady in a way that sent chills down her spine. “Understood?”

Hannah stared at the phone, feeling like she had fallen into an ice–cold abyss.

She had never expected that Ethan, who always prided himself on being upright and even a little arrogant, would secretly record their conversation.

“You set me up?” she screamed, her voice sharp with disbelief. “Ethan, when did you become this despicable?”

“When dealing with someone like you, I can’t afford not to be careful.” Ethan put his phone away, a look of disappointment crossing his face.

“Hannah, I used to trust you. But you know better than anyone who tore that trust apart.”

He gave one last look at the woman who had been completely consumed by power and desire. There was no trace of attachment left. Then he turned and walked toward the door.

Just as he reached the entryway, he suddenly stopped.

Ethan turned his head slightly and added coldly, “Oh, right. There’s something you probably

don’t know.”

Hannah stood frozen in place.

“Your deceased biological father actually had another child. An illegitimate son. He’s been kept overseas and raised by someone else. By now, he should be close to adulthood. Tell me, if I put in a little effort to find him, then take his DNA and compare it with yours, the Jewells‘ precious heiress, and personally hand the report to Lenny… what do you think his reaction would be?”
