Chapter 658 The Accusation
Amelia dropped to her knees, her hands trembling as she tried to check on Evan.

But just as she was about to call for help, a woman’s sharp, piercing scream suddenly came from behind her.
“Oh my God! Ms. Harlow, what did you do to Mr. Everett?”
It was the caregiver, Ruth. No one knew when she had appeared at the doorway. She was pointing at Amelia inside the room, her face filled with shock.
Ruth’s scream cut through the night, instantly shattering the quiet of Preston’s Courtyard.
Right after that, hurried footsteps came from upstairs.
Mason and Nora, who had just been startled awake, rushed down almost at the same time.
The moment Nora saw what was inside the room, her eyes went wide, and all the color drained from her face.
She looked at Evan lying in a pool of blood, completely unconscious. Her lips trembled, but she couldn’t say a single word. Then everything went black, and she collapsed straight backward.
“Mom!” Mason caught her just in time.
“Grandma!” Hayden, who had followed behind, saw the chaotic scene, especially his father lying motionless on the floor. He burst into tears, his small voice filled with fear.
The whole house descended into chaos in an instant.
And Mason became the only steady presence in the middle of it all.
He handed the unconscious Nora over to the stunned Ruth, then stepped over the broken glass on the floor and went straight to Amelia.
His first reaction was to take out his phone. With remarkable calm, he called for an ambulance, clearly and accurately giving the address and describing the situation.
Only after that did he slowly crouch down, his gaze falling on Evan’s badly injured knee.
“What happened?”
The cold sharpness in his eyes made Amelia’s heart tighten. Her whole body was shaking.

She shook her head desperately, tears spilling uncontrollably from her eyes. “I don’t know… I came downstairs to get some water. I saw the light in Evan’s room, and when I came in… he was already like this.”
Before she could finish, Ruth suddenly shrieked from the side, “You’re lying! I got up just now and saw you pushing Mr. Everett out of his wheelchair! And now you’re still trying to deny it?”
“I didn’t!” Amelia turned sharply, staring at the woman who was twisting the truth.
Mason’s brows furrowed tightly, a flash of cold anger passing through his eyes as he snapped, “Enough.”
Ruth fell silent immediately.
Amelia, her eyes red, turned back to Mason. She grabbed his arm and kept repeating, “I didn’t… Mason, please believe me, I really didn’t…”
But with everything in chaos, Evan unconscious and Nora passed out, no one could immediately tell truth from lies.
Soon, the sound of an ambulance siren grew closer.
Medical staff quickly carried Evan and Nora onto stretchers and rushed them to the nearest hospital.
Outside the emergency room, the atmosphere was suffocating.
Nora had only fainted from shock. After being given a sedative, she would wake up soon.
But the news coming out of the emergency room was worse each time.
The doctor took off his mask, his expression grave, and told them that Evan’s leg had already been slowly recovering, and there had even been hope for a full recovery.
But this time, the second severe injury to his knee had damaged critical nerves in his leg and completely destroyed his chance of ever standing again.
On top of that, the impact from the fall had caused a serious head injury, leading to internal bleeding in his brain. He had fallen into a deep coma and, for now, could not wake up.
This meant that the one person who could have proven her innocence could no longer speak.
At that moment, hurried and chaotic footsteps came from the end of the hallway.
Wilda arrived, surrounded by several people, her face cold with fury.
Clearly, Ruth, the informant she had personally arranged, had already reported everything to
