Chapter 132
Natasha’s POV

The Omega that entered the room was short and skinny, with wispy blonde hair that was almost white around her ears. She wore a tattered Omega uniform that may have once been clean and well-kept, but now had multiple holes in it and was covered in dirt.
“Nellie, is it?” Natasha eyed the girl warily, wrinkling her nose at her stench. She smelled like she hadn’t bathed in days.
The girl nodded, wringing her hands nervously. “Yes, Ma’am. Omega Nellie from Crescent Hollow pack. Although…” She winced. “I guess not anymore. I was exiled.”
“Exiled? Why?” This piqued Natasha’s interest. The girl had said she knew Elena. If she was exiled, too, then maybe she knew something about Elena’s actions in Crescent Hollow.
Nellie’s throat bobbed with an audible gulp and she hesitated for a long moment, but she finally admitted, “I… I left Elena for dead… I was supposed to make sure she died, but I couldn’t do it, so I left her there..”
Natasha’s brows shot skyward. At first, she had thought that maybe this girl only knew Elena in passing, seeing as how she was an Omega in the pack. Natasha had thought that perhaps she panicked and came to the one place where she thought an ally might be―Nightshade. That the girl was merely a desperate coattail rider looking for charity.
But this… This was different, wasn’t it?
Natasha had an idea, and gently placed her arm around Nellie’s trembling shoulders. She guided her over to an armchair by the fireplace, then walked over to the side table and poured two cups of tea from the pot.
“Tell me more,” Natasha said, trying to keep her voice soft, open. Like the kind of person a timid little thing like Nellie might want to open up to-and obey. “Who told you to make sure Elena died?”
The girl’s hands shook so much as she took the tea from Natasha that the cup rattled in the saucer. Tears formed in her big, doelike eyes.
“I… I shouldn’t say…”
“You can trust me,” Natasha said gently, draping a blanket around Nellie’s shoulders. When the girl still looked uncertain, she rang the bell for a servant; when the servant entered, she said, “Please go into my closet and find some fresh clothes for our guest. Something warm.”
“Yes, Luna,” the servant said, curtsying before scurrying off.
Nellie’s big eyes, still misty with tears, widened further. “You’re being so nice to me…”
Natasha pasted a kind smile across her face. “What kind of a Luna would I be if I didn’t help someone in need?” She patted the girl’s shoulder, then straightened and walked over to the window. “In fact, you’re welcome to stay here in the pack.”
Nellie sniffled. “Really?”
“Really.” Natasha glanced over her shoulder at her. “But I need to know what really happened in Crescent

Hollow. Who told you to kill Elena?”
The girl hesitated for a moment longer, but finally opened up. “Luna Serena-well, the future Luna of Crescent Hollow-stabbed Elena with a poisoned knife. She told me to make sure she died and dispose of her body, but when I saw Elena still breathing, I… I couldn’t.” She shook her head.
“And why did she want you to do this?” Natasha asked. She took the bundle of clothes from the servant and set them in front of Nellie, letting her feel the soft, luxurious fabrics. Fabrics that she had probably never even seen before in her pathetic little life.
Nellie took a deep breath. “Because Elena was Serena’s sister-who was supposed to be dead already. Serena said that Elena had a secret that she couldn’t let her tell Kade.”
Natasha grit her teeth. This aligned with Elena’s story-but she sensed that there was more to it. “Wasn’t Elena trying to seduce Kade?” she asked.
Nellie thought for a moment, then admitted, “Well, they did spend a lot of time together at first… And when I thought she was the future Luna, not Serena, she didn’t correct me.”
There it was. Natasha was certain that Elena had been trying to take the role of Luna. Perhaps she had even intended to use Serena’s secret as leverage to get what she wanted. If she was willing to use blackmail like that, then what else was she capable of?
“I’ll tell you what, Nellie.” Natasha placed the clothes in Nellie’s lap and smiled sweetly. “If you promise me one thing, you can stay in the pack-and you will want for nothing.”
Nellie blinked owlishly up at her. “What is it?” she asked.
“Tell my husband, the Alpha, that Elena tried to seduce Kade.”
Nellie stared at Natasha. “But-”

“As Luna, I can give you whatever you want,” Natasha cut her off. “Is there anything you desire, Nellie?”
“Well, I always wanted to be a Gamma… I was bullied so badly as an Omega in Crescent Hollow.”
“Then a Gamma you will be-and you will live here under my protection, ensuring that no one will bully you. All you have to do for me is this one thing.”
The girl looked uncertain, but after a long moment, she nodded. “Okay, Luna. I’ll do it.”
Natasha smiled. “Perfect. Now, let’s draw you a bath.”
A little while later, once Nellie was presentable, Natasha took her to find Samson. She found him still in his study. Tyler was with him, speaking in hushed tones, and both looked up when Natasha entered. Samson’s eyes
narrowed.
“Natasha, I’m busy-”
“I have someone you might want to meet.” Natasha stepped out of the way, revealing the girl. “This is Nellie. She’s from Crescent Hollow-she was there when Elena was attacked.”

Samson’s face drained of color. Tyler shot to his feet. “Are you the one who left her for dead?” Tyler blurted out.
Nellie wrung her hands nervously, but Natasha gently placed her hand on her shoulder. “It’s alright, dear,” she reassured her softly. “Just tell them what you told me.”
The girl hesitated, but, after a moment, she obeyed. She told Samson and Tyler what she and Natasha had practiced earlier-told them that Elena came to Crescent Hollow in search of power, that she angered the Luna- to-be, and faced the consequences.
“She only wanted to be Luna of any pack she entered,” Nellie said, glancing sideways at Natasha as she said the words they practiced. “And she said she would stop at nothing to achieve that.”
When she was finished, both Samson and Tyler looked stricken and pale. “I… I can’t believe this,” Samson whispered.
“Samson, I warned you of Elena’s schemes,” Natasha said, stepping forward. “This poor girl, who never did anything wrong, was sent into the wilds on her own because of Elena. She almost died!”
“Meanwhile, Elena was stabbed in the heart with a poison knife,” Tyler pointed out in a low voice.
Natasha’s eyes darted to her son. “Only because of her own actions, Tyler.” She lifted her chin. “No one becomes a slave for no reason-it is a punishment reserved only for the worst crimes, just short of those punishable by execution. Elena was never a good person. When will you see that?”
Tyler looked uncertain. But just then, the door opened.
“Tyler? Samson?”
Elena hobbled into the room, leaning heavily on her cane. The moment Nellie saw her, she gasped, hand flying to cover her mouth in shock.
“Elena! You’re still alive?!”
