Chapter 18
“In
your current condition?” Tyler took a step forward. “Elena, you’re still weak and wolfless. You won’t survive on your own as a rogue.” He wrung his hands. “Besides, you’re like a sister to me already. I can’t let you go.”
Natasha scoffed. “So you’ll harbor a criminal in our pack just because she’s weak and pathetic. How many times do I have to tell you that she’s not your real sister?”
Tyler snapped his gaze to her. “With all due respect, Natasha, everything you’ve just said is pure speculation. Until you have actual evidence of foul play, I won’t let you kick this poor girl out into the forest on her own. And I can’t deny the bond I feel toward her, even if we’ve only just met.”
Natasha’s jaw worked, but Tyler was already turning back to me.
“At least stay until you recover,” he whispered. “Please.”
Natasha’s POV
Natasha’s fury was rising to a fever pitch. She had reached her limit with ‘Elena‘–or perhaps better known as Samantha.
This girl would not remain in the pack. Natasha would make sure of it. No disaster would strike Nightshade as long as Natasha was Luna.
Tyler escorted Samantha back to her room after that. Samson tried to convince Natasha to go to bed and rest, but she refused. She stormed out and went directly back to the training grounds where she had first found Samantha that day.
Natasha found the group of warriors she had brought with her from her home pack playing cards. Melvin was sitting off to the side, his expression sour. Last Natasha had seen, he’d been licking his wounds after a spar. That was strange because Melvin never lost a fight.
“Did you all do as I requested while I was gone?” Natasha asked, folding her arms. “Did you teach the little rogue a lesson?”
The Gammas‘ gazes all flicked to Melvin at the same time. Melvin growled under his breath and stormed out, leaving Natasha confused.
“She beat Melvin in a spar,” one of the Gammas muttered once he was gone.
Natasha’s eyebrows lifted. “We are talking about the same girl, right? You’re not seriously telling me that little wretch beat my best Gamma in a fight.”
The Gammas shrugged. “Her wolf emerged for a moment and kicked his ass,” one admitted. “It was quite impressive, actually. She’s a little thing, but she quite literally sent Melvin flying.”
Natasha didn’t know what to think about that. Melvin was over two hundred pounds and was one of the most seasoned warriors from their home pack. This girl was wolfless, an ex–slave, and a third of his size. Even if her wolf momentarily returned, there was simply no way she beat him.
“I’ll give her credit. She’s got more of a backbone than it seems,” another Gamma chimed in. “She accepted his challenge and even won. I’m kind of impressed.”
“That’s impossible,” Natasha hissed. “And you’re all delusional if you actually think she’s worth a damn.”

“I think you two just got off on the wrong foot,” one Gamma retorted. “Perhaps you should give her another chance, Luna. She could be a valuable fighter in the pack.”
Natasha scoffed and turned on her heel, refusing to even entertain such an idea. She didn’t make it far before she heard the whispers: “I don’t understand why the Luna is stirring up trouble over that girl. She’s just a rogue with a difficult past, and she proved herself today.”
Natasha froze.
“Maybe she’s finally lost it because she can’t handle her lack of power anymore,” someone else added. “So she’s trying to exert control over the lowest member of the pack.”
