Samantha’s POV
The Omegas shoved me to the floor in front of Natasha’s feet. My hands scraped roughly against the stone, forcing me to bite my tongue to keep from crying out in pain. If I cried out, then it would only satisfy her.
“Explain this.” Natasha threw something down in front of me, and I looked over to see that it was a small notepad.
I sat up and picked up the notepad with quivering fingers, flipping through the pages. It appeared to contain notes on Nightshade pack; particularly, extensive notes on the inner workings of the pack, the Alpha and Luna’s comings and goings, and other information such as hidden entrances and the code to the vault.
“I… have no clue,” I said, handing the notepad back to Natasha. And it was true–I’d never seen those notes before in my life. “What does this have to do with me?”
Natasha’s eyes flashed as she smacked the notepad out of my hand and sent it skittering across the floor.
“Don’t play stupid with me, girl!” she barked. “I know you took those notes on our pack–you came here to infiltrate Nightshade and send information back to the enemy!”
I would have laughed out loud had the wild–eyed look on Natasha’s face not been so terrifying. Of course I hadn’t taken those notes; but when I parted my lips to say that, she slapped me across the face so hard it sent lights. dancing across my vision.
“Tell me the truth!” she demanded as I struggled back up to my knees from where I’d fallen to the floor again.
“I am telling you the truth.” I managed to stand, somehow, and dusted off my gray Omega uniform skirt. I hoped she couldn’t see the way my hands shook with fear. “I didn’t take those notes.‘
“Well, I found them in your room.
“Someone must have put them in there,” I insisted. “What purpose would I have to take notes like that?”
Natasha scoffed. “The traitor lies,” she said, gesturing to her posse. “Take her to the gates. A crime like this is punishable by banishment–or death.”
My eyes widened as the others advanced on me again. “No–no!” I shouted, struggling against their grips to no avail; there were too many of them. “No, I didn’t do it! Please, you have to believe me!”
But they didn’t. Natasha’s eyes were cold and unfeeling as her posse dragged me out of the room.
A few minutes later, I found myself standing at the gates to the entrance of Nightshade pack. Beyond those gates was a wild and dangerous forest filled with rogues and feral animals–the same forest that the Gammas had entered for their training exercise.
It didn’t matter if Natasha chose banishment or death; if I set foot into that forest now, without my wolf or the proper training, I would die anyway.
Natasha’s smile was all teeth as she stood by the gates. “I, Luna Natasha of Nightshade pack, condemn the little traitor to banishment!” Natasha was saying, much to the delight of her followers, who were grinning and cheering.
I tried to explain myself, but it was no use. No one was listening. And even if they were… No one cared.
“What is going on here?!”
A familiar voice nearly made me drop to my knees. The gate swung open, revealing Tyler and Samson, dressed in
