Rebirth of the Alpha's Slave Mate (Samantha and Kade) novel Chapter 25

Chapter 25

A few minutes later, Natasha pulled into the parking lot of a quaint diner downtown. Even from outside, the smell of pancakes and coffee made my mouth water. I’d spent so many years eating soupy porridge and stale bread that I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d had my favorite breakfast foods: syrupy waffles with fruit and bacon.

Go ahead inside,Natasha said as she dug through her purse. I’ll meet you in there.

I nodded and jumped out of the car, heading into the restaurant. The waitress led me to a vinyl booth in the corner with cracked leather seats. I slid into one and ordered a coffee while I waited.

I wasn’t sitting there for long when I heard the bell jingle above the door, and I looked up, expecting to see Natasha approaching.

But the person headed my way made my stomach drop.

Kade.

I leapt to my feet, panic overwhelming me the moment I saw those cold gray eyes fixed on me. Without thinking, I turned and shoved past the approaching waitress and toward the back door.

Heywait!voices shouted behind me, but I didn’t stop. I pushed into the kitchen, looking around frantically

My throat bobbed painfully, but I managed in a small voice, I don’t have one. I’m a wolfless rogue.

Kade stared at me for a moment, clearly not believing me.

I don’t buy it.He pulled back just enough to turn me in his arms, forcing me to look at him. Do you know that the child is-

The moment he mentioned my baby, I snapped. Emotion overwhelmed me that was so intense I felt like a kettle boiling over. I curled my hands into fists and squeezed my eyes shut and shouted, Shut up!

Kade went silent, hands tightening on my shoulders.

My heart stopped.

I’d never done anything like that before. Not to him. Not since I became his slave.

When I cracked my eyes open, I expected to see Kade’s face twisted into a furious snarl; but I found instead that he
