Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 770

"I know how close you are with your elder brother, but... I truly didn’t do it. I have no idea why your sister-in-law had a miscarriage. If your brother is truly upset, I’ll go apologize to him. I just don’t want you to be caught in the middle," Caroline said, forcing a smile.

Seeing her like this, Maxwell couldn’t bring himself to doubt her any longer.

He buried his unease deep down, pressed his lips together, and let out a weary sigh. "Maybe my brother misunderstood me. It’s fine—this has nothing to do with you. I’ll clear things up with him in a couple of days." He glanced at Caroline, his tone softening with a hint of reproach. "Don’t say things like that again. My brother would never act that way."

Caroline nodded earnestly. "Alright, I understand. Then... you’re not angry anymore, are you?" she added cautiously, her voice barely above a whisper.

Maxwell shook his head and fell silent.

His mind was a tangled mess, and a dull ache throbbed behind his temples.

Caroline stayed by his side, the picture of devotion, yet a flicker of displeasure crossed her eyes.

She was in love with Maxwell, and she wanted nothing more than for him to take over the Castro Corporation. As for his sister-in-law’s miscarriage—yes, she was behind it. But so what? She was the heiress of the Lohmann family. Even if Damon found out, he wouldn’t dare make a scene.

Besides, she’d heard that his wife was close friends with that woman who had humiliated her before.

Initially, Caroline had intended to retaliate against the wife of the Stone Corporation’s CEO for daring to insult her, but the woman had unexpectedly left the country. Since she couldn’t get to her, Caroline had settled for a smaller target—a mere plaything to pass the time.

If Damon’s wife ever learned that she lost her baby because of her dear friend…

Would she still cherish that friendship so sincerely?

The thought brought a vicious smirk to Caroline’s lips.

The Castro Residence.

After visiting her own daughter, Ariana went straight to the Castro family home to see Fanní. The current head of the Castro family and his wife were away; they had left for an overseas vacation many days prior. It was probably precisely because of their absence that Fanny had suffered the miscarriage.

Otherwise, given the shrewd nature of the matriarch, she would never have allowed such a thing to happen.

When Ariana arrived, Fanny was sitting listlessly, staring out the window.

An aura of profound loneliness and desolation clung to her, making Ariana's eyes sting with unshed tears. Ariana walked over slowly and called Fanny's name softly. Fanny seemed to take a good two seconds to process the sound, as if hearing it from a great distance. She turned her head vaguely, blinking a couple of times.

Ariana: "Fanny, it's me."

Fanny pressed her lips together, then forced the corners of her mouth upward in a strained smile. "Ah, Ariana... It's you. You've come."

Ariana nodded. She sat down quietly beside Fanny, gently smoothing a stray strand of hair from her temple. "I know you're grieving," she said softly, "but if you go on like this, your health will suffer. You're still young. There will be other children in the future. Perhaps this one just wasn't meant to be."

But at these words, Fanny's eyes instantly welled up with tears.

She whispered, her voice low, "I had prepared so many things... toys, tiny clothes, a pram. So many things..."

Ariana wrapped an arm around Fanny, pulling her close. "I know," she murmured.

The price is only 1/4 of what others charge
