Edmund greeted the guests, but an unshakable pang of unease gnawed at him.
Three days had passed. Josephine should have realized her mistake by
now.
On a day meant for celebration, she shouldn’t still be locked away in detention.
Edmund lifted his leg to go after her, but Diana grabbed his arm.
“When your parents arrive, will vou admit our relationship? After all, Steve is mine. They won’t b Purchase completed ed as to object.”
Edmund frowned, his voice sharp. “I’ve said it before–the title of Mrs. Oswald belongs to Josephine alone.”
He scanned the room, an uneasy feeling crawling up his spine.
Something wasn’t right. He needed to see Josephine immediately.
But the next second, the world spun violently, and he collapsed.
When he woke again, the doctor’s stern expression made his panic
surge even more.
“It looks like you have a rare blood disorder. You’ll need a bone marrow donation from a close relative. I checked your son’s file. You’re both type A, but you have Rh–negative blood, and he can’t

Edmund thought of the daughter from six years ago.
He and Josephine both had Rh–negative blood. Jesslyn could save him.
He forced himself upright, intending to go to the hospital and bring. Jesslyn back himself.
But the next moment, his assistant burst into the room.
“Oh no, Commander Oswald. Your wife suddenly rushed into the town and took your daughter!”
Josephine… took Jesslyn?
How could she possibly know that child existed?
Edmund’s mind flashed back to the day he locked Josephine in the
detention room.
Her eyes had been like still water–no raging love left–only calm as she said she regretted loving him.
So it wasn’t jealousy.
Her talk of divorce wasn’t a ploy to grab his attention.
His chest tightened, panic flooding through him.
If Josephine realized Stephen wasn’t her son, would she even come back?
He immediately summoned the two subordinates who had locked

Josephine away that day.
“She was in detention all these days. How did she get out?”
Both men looked pale and flustered, waving their hands.
“We were following your orders… just teaching her a lesson. She bled so much she passed out, so we went to the front yard to get bandages and stuff.
“But when we reached the door, we saw her get into a black Mercedes and just leave!”
Edmund’s breathing hitched.
She bled? Passed out?
And that black Mercedes… who could it be?
In this day and age, a car like that wasn’t common. He had to check immediately.
Just then, Peter and Fiona Oswald arrived from downstairs.
They had been entertaining guests at home, but rushed over when they heard he was ill.
“You look awful. Where’s Josie? She usually worries the most when you’re sick. We didn’t see her just now,” Fiona said, glancing at his pale face against the hospital bed, heart aching.
Edmund opened his mouth, but no words came.
