Chapter 158
Hades POV
“Congratulations, Hades,” Alpha Daxton offered, handing me a glass of bourbon as I drank it down, grateful for the slight smoky aftertaste, inhaling deeply, almost gulping it down in an effort to settle my nerves.
“Thank you,” I rasped, smoothing down my shirt, adjusting my jacket, and fiddling with my bowtie.”I’m a lucky man,” I added as Damien snorted, elbowing me.
“More than lucky. You hurt my sister, and you’ll have to answer to me,” he added sternly as we stood outside.
It was a promise, not a threat. I believed wholeheartedly that he meant every single word.
“I promise, I will never do anything to harm her, I swear on my life,” I vowed.
Raven was my whole world and the centre of my universe. Just the thought of hurting her made my heart hurt.
I looked at the crowd, eagerly whispering amongst each other and then darted a look at Jackson, who looked like a nervous wreck. Omegas whipped through the crowd, offering refreshments and little canapes for the guests. Damien grabbed a glass of bourbon and handed it to Jackson, whose hands trembled slightly as he lifted it to his mouth.
Thanks,” he said hoarsely, almost gulping the liquid down.
Alpha Daxton laughed. “I remember how nervous I was when it came time to marry Grace. It felt as though my heart was going to burst right out of my chest. You both need to relax a little, It’s not as though you’re facing the guillotine. You’re marrying your soul mates, which is even better,” he added in a wistful tone, his eyes going distant, lost in his memories.
Today had to be hard for him without Grace by his side to watch their daughter walk down the aisle. I wished there was something I could do to ease his pain, but I couldn’t take away his memories. I just hoped that after today, he had something else to hold onto and cherish.
“I’m trying, but my nerves are a mess. Just the thought of Aeress walking down that aisle,” Jackson shook his head, a small smile on his face, “she’s going to look gorgeous, I just know it,” he boasted, his grin growing wider.
