Chapter 189
His tone was nonchalant as though this was going to be the easiest mission yet. The hunters continued to have reservations, further angering him.
“What if we fail?”
“It won’t happen,” Darius’s voice was confident.
He calmly unrolled the large piece of paper he had that outlined the plan. The hunters gathered tightly around him, looking down wide-eyed. It was everything they could have hoped for, but it wasn’t much different from their other missions. The only change was that they had gotten their hands on enough silver and wolfsbane to take down an entire army. As they looked over the plan, their reservations began to fade, and they began to chuckle and talk amongst themselves, their confidence in their leader returning.
“Does everyone know their tasks?” Darius arched a brow, questioning the hunters.
“Yes,” they chorused simultaneously, wide grins on their faces.
Marissa shivered at the glances shot her way. Part of her feared that once this was over, they would target her. After all, if she were killed while they were fighting against the Blood Moon Pack, she would simply become a convenient casualty. An accident, nothing more. She trusted none of these bastards to keep her safe. They would turn on her, she knew it. She swallowed hard, even as Darius moved closer to her and put his arm around her waist. His touch caused shivers down her spine, and not the good kind either.
She felt revulsion even as she carefully hid it behind a forced smile. He grinned and then shot one arm up above his head.
“To success,” he roared, “and the death of the Blood Moon Pack!”
“To the Death of the Blood Moon Pack!” they roared and then began to scatter, heading for the manhole that would let them up to the surface and allow them to begin their long-awaited journey.
