Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 195

Chapter 195

“What was that you called me?” I tilted my head as he tried to sneer at me, “a whore? A bitch? Right now, the only bitch I see right now is you,” I said darkly. “One that’s about to regret his words.”

I dropped him and, as he stood there dazed, put both my hands on the side of his face and ruthlessly twisted his neck. The light faded from his eyes, and he fell down, his body sprawling on the ground.

I took a moment to look over the grounds. Everywhere I looked, there were either shifters continuing to fight or dead hunters littered on the grounds. There were very few hunters left alive now. I breathed a sigh of relief as I saw Aeress and Jackson fighting together as a team, Jackson protecting his mate fiercely.

“Raven,” Marissa spoke behind me, and I turned, surprised to see tears trailing down her cheeks as she looked at the fight still going. “I never wanted this,” she whispered, “I never wanted your pack to be attacked,” she confessed, “and my old pack and Alpha Drake’s is gone,” she said with genuine regret, “all of those innocent shifters, killed, because of my mother and her burning hatred to get revenge on you.”

Her voice was filled with grief and sincerity. Even her expression turned haunted for a moment.

“I wish I could hate you,” my voice was tired, exhausted, “but I can’t. I remember you trying to protect me when you were younger. I remember the good times before you changed. You were sweet and kind, Marissa,” I exhaled as she blinked at me, “and then one day you changed, as though something flipped inside of you. I know that MaryAnne had a lot to do with that. I regret the method in which I took Hades from you,” I continued quietly, “but I don’t regret that Hades is mine.”

I could never regret that.

She smiled tremulously. “I deserved it. I was a right bitch,” she said, and despite the gravity of the situation, I flung back my head and laughed, genuinely surprised at her admission, even if it was truthful.

“Maybe, but so was I. It takes a lot of guts to admit you’re wrong and make an effort to change. I hope I’m not making a huge mistake in letting you live,” my voice was grim.

The fighting around us was well in control. Hunters were dropping like flies, and none of my pack members were severely injured or dead. This was better than I could have hoped for.

“I wish I hadn’t been such a coward,” she confessed, “but every time mother hit me or verbally abused me, I grew afraid the punishments would get worse. No amount of apologizing will undo what I did, but I hope you know that this time, I’m not going to be the same old Marissa. I’ve changed, I swear it.”
